Hello! I hope you all had a beautiful Mother's Day, and was able to relax and enjoy time with your families. We went all the way to Aldinga Beach for a hotel lunch with my Mother-In-Law and let me just say, it was great to get some proper fresh air. Yes, I'm shading you, big city! Today I'm posting about the Lush Mother's Day collection, which arrived one and a bit business days before Mother's Day, and since I had two long appointments Friday and yesterday, I'm not getting a chance to write this until now. I'd love to be less busy for a hot minute! #justsayin'
I love flowers for Mother's Day, and this year I got a stack of goodies from the school Mother's Day stall and a tripod and accessories for my iPhone - all fantastic presents, but nothing even remotely floral! Along comes Ups-A-Daisy* with its fluro orange petals and bright pink centre, all smelling of a garden in bloom. Ups-A-Daisy is a chunky flower, too, with quite a bit of weight behind it. And it's double-sided, with the flipside bright yellow and blue. A bath bomb full of essential oils like bright orange oil, soft rose and soothing rosewood, perfect for pampering Mama!
Let's talk Pink Custard*, because frankly I haven't had dessert in ages (excluding the Lemon Curd Tart I had at our special Mother's Day lunch yesterday, but who's counting that?!). I generally prefer my Custard laced generously with brandy (is it Christmas yet?) but who can resist a pretty pink concoction that's more fun than the Mother-In-Law asking to see my pussy on Sunday (she obviously meant the photos of my cats, Nutmeg and Pumpkin, in my iPhone). I'm a huge fan of Lush shower jellies, the wibbly wobbly goodness is a bucketload of fun! A shower jelly scented with lavender and tonka, how can you go wrong?
Honey Lip Scrub* is self-explanatory, and although I occasionally have honey on my toast, unfortunately I do not like having this scrub on my lips. For some reason, I can't take the smell of this, and it would have to be my least favourite Lush lip scrub. Ones I'd recommend instead of this include Popcorn, Mint Juleps and my personal favourite, Sugar Plum Fairy (unfortunately a Limited Edition release and not currently available). We are all different when it comes to scents, so I imagine bee-lovin' honey fans would love this.
Haha OMG my poor sweet Elsie The Giraffe* arrived with her foot detached and I'm simultaneously amused and horrified. I'm sure she'll adapt to life without her yellow hoof (I had to gently shove it back into place for her photoshoot), and it won't cause her to end up in hot water. Bahahaha, THAT'S EXACTLY WHERE SHE'LL END UP.... SHE'S A BUBBLE BAR! And a reusable one at that! Poor Elsie will be in hot water over and over again! And the bathroom will smell of lemon, lime and grapefruit. Bring on the demise of Elsie!
Your Mother Should Know* is a bubble bar with a very strong scent of grapefruit, rosewood and neroli. I happen to enjoy strong scents as long as they're more citrussy than floral, but some people may find this BOOM fragrance a little much. Your Mother Should Know pearls of wisdom like 'treat others with respect', 'honesty is the best policy' and 'life's too short....'. I was taught these principles as a child and think it's so important to pass these life lessons onto my son, as his Mother, and just from one human being to another.
