Mecca Beauty Loop Level 1 Box

Hi guys! It's Mecca Beauty Loop box time again, can you believe it? It always seems to come around super fast (or maybe that's just me). Anyway, let's have a look inside the Level 1 box, shall we?

Stila Stay All Day Liquid Lipstick in Patina
I'm loving the flattering dusky pink shade of this liquid lipstick from Stila. This is definitely a colour I'd normally go for. I'm noticing as I get older that bold, bright shades make my lips look thinner and it's the nude hues that improve my appearance (I mean I've known this for ages, but been in denial, haha). This feels great going on and is a very light formula. However, it dries down super fast and I'm not that keen on the lip feel once it's dry. I'll have to give this a few more tries.

Josie Maran Whipped Argan Oil Face Butter
In my opinion this 5ml sample doesn't smell very pleasant, although it does feel nice during application. It absorbs into the skin quickly, but the deal breaker for me is the dreaded rubbing off of the product. It balls up, thus making makeup application over the top a pain in the arse. I'm quite disappointed that I can't use this as a base for makeup and might just use it as a body moisturiser instead.

Elemis Peptide4 Night Recovery Cream-Oil
I loved the subtle fragrance of this 2ml sample. It had a really light texture and was a joy to apply. I couldn't be stuffed trying to disperse the remaining product into a sample pot for later, so I just used the whole lot, applying the leftover to my neck and arms. This left my complexion glowing and my skin felt soft and nourished.

Verso Antioxidant Turmeric Booster
I haven't tried this 2ml sample sachet yet, but I'm keen to see how it goes!

Makeup Haul Part 2: Mecca Maxima!

Well hello again! Today I'm featuring Part 2 of my Makeup Haul, all the goodies I bought from Mecca Maxima during my recent Melbourne trip! If you missed Part 1, you can check that out here: Makeup Haul Part 1: Sephora!

Even though Sephora is huge, I must say I prefer shopping in Mecca Maxima, because I find the staff super-friendly and helpful. Case in point: when a certain creamy nude lipstick was unavailable, one of the Sales Assistants spent ten minutes looking for alternatives, even getting a few other staff members onto the task as well. In the end, she had about 20 creamy nude lipstick swatches all over her arm, haha! Also, Mecca Maxima stock two of my favourite brands, Too Faced and Soap & Glory! I had such fun hauling this lot of goodies over two visits. Hope you enjoy!

Too Faced Sweethearts Perfect Flush Blush (Sparkling Bellini)
Too Faced Love Light Prismatic Highlighter (You Light Up My Life)
NARS Blush (Orgasm)
Stila Magnificent Metals Glitter & Glow Liquid Eye Shadow (Rose Gold Retro)
Urban Decay VICE Lipstick (Manic)
Urban Decay Eyeshadow Primer Potion
Soap & Glory The Breakfast Scrub
Soap & Glory Sexy Mother Pucker XL (Clear)
Soap & Glory Smooch Operator Lip Butter Balm
Origins Mega-Bright Dark Circle Minimizer {free sample}
GlamGlow SuperMud Clearing Treatment {free sample}
GlamGlow GravityMud Firming Treatment {free sample}
GlamGlow ThirstyMud Hydrating Treatment {free sample}
Perricone MD Pre:Empt Brightening Eye Cream {free sample)
Perricone MD Firming Eye Cream {free sample}
Perricone MD Cold Plasma Eye {free sample}
Perricone MD Advanced Eye Area Therapy {free sample}

I have to say I completely stuffed up with the Too Faced Love Light Highlighter! I wanted the rose gold shade Ray Of Light, but it had been put back in the gold You Light Up My Life tester position and I totally second-guessed myself and got the wrong one! Then I had time to exchange it as I was still in Melbourne but forgot to take it with me the day we went back into the city. So now I have the gold one (which I don't like the look of), when I was actually after the rose gold one. At least I got my Perfect Flush Blush shade right!

I finally caved and bought the cult classic Orgasm blush from NARS, and the stunning Stila Magnificent Metals liquid shadow in Rose Gold retro was a no-brainer. It's just so pretty! I hope it looks just as good on the eyes!

I eventually settled on an Urban Decay VICE lippie after a long swatch-fest of most of the lipsticks in-store, and picked up the Primer Potion as an afterthought when checking out the cute minis near the checkout. I'm currently using a Too Faced Shadow Insurance mini but it's nearly gone and this will be a good way to compare them.

I had to pick up a tub of my Holy Grail body scrub, Soap & Glory's The Breakfast Scrub, which smells like freakin' pancakes and is a must try in my opinion! And then came some disappointment, when the raved-about $6 Sugar Crush Body Spray was out of stock and my beloved Sexy Mother Pucker lip plumper had changed packaging and was only available in Clear, not my preferred Half-Baked. I got it anyway, but I really wanted the tube with the doe-foot appplicator instead of the squeezy-tube bullshit I bought. I discovered the Soap & Glory Lip Butter Balm near the counter and hot damn, guys, it smells like coconut ice! Sweeeeeet!

I gotta say Mecca are so generous with the samples! I was discussing a GlamGlow mask set I saw online, but unfortunately it was no longer available, so the Sales Assistant took it upon herself to make me up some samples instead (I didn't even ask). And on my other visit, another lovely staff member took my list of samples I was interested in trying and said she'd prepare as many of them as were available while I continued to shop. (They probably knew I was hardcore haulin' from the fact that I had half the store in my basket. LOL).

Half Price Makeup Haul!

Oh hey, everyone! This post is all about my Half Price Makeup Haul from the end of last week. Chemist Warehouse hold some amazing sales, and their Big Brand Cosmetics Sale is still on! If you're interested in 50% Off the entire range of Rimmel, Maybelline, L'Oreal, Revlon, Nude By Nature and Sally Hansen, haul arse to Chemist Warehouse by May 25, because that's when the sale ends!

Some ways you can shop the half price sale:

~ use the opportunity to stock up on your staple products
~ use the opportunity to try products you've had your eye on for a while
~ use the opportunity to grab some new release makeup
~ use the opportunity to buy Birthday gifts for your family and friends
~ take the plunge and buy that expensive palette, it's half price after all
~ if you're a Blogger, buy some items for an Instagram or blog Giveaway

Now onto my Haul!

I picked up another Maybelline Masterliner eyeliner (pictured in the top photo), because I go through them quite quickly, and even though I already have a backup, I know I'll need a second backup sooner or later. Another semi-staple product is the Maybelline BabyLips ElectroPop Lip Balm in Berry Bomb. I've just finished one of these and I absolutely love the shade. Despite it looking scary in the tube, it's a sheer balm, so applies as a subtle hint of colour. My only criticism of this product is that since the balm extends high above the tube rim, you have to be careful not to take a chunk out of it when replacing the lid until you get it level with the twist tube. And the last Maybelline product, which I'm pretty excited about, is the BabyLips Balm & Blush in Juicy Rose. It's so cute and I can't wait to try it!

Next I went a little nail polish crazy and picked up four bottles! I've been loving the Rimmel 60 Seconds Super Shine range lately (I'm currently sporting Port-A-Loo Blue), and when I saw a gorgeous bright orange shade called Orgasm, I had to have it. It kind of makes up for the fact that I don't own the cult NARS Blush in Orgasm, in a round about way! There was a beautiful lavender shade called Lovey Dovey nearby, so I chucked that in my basket as well, because why not?

I've been lusting after the L'Oreal Color Riche Vernis a l'Huile (what a mouthful!) nail lacquer ever since seeing it on Instagram, mainly for the stunning packaging, so I was not passing this opportunity up! My eye was immediately drawn to Fuchsia Palace (330), which is exactly my kind of shade! Then I was excited to spot a gorgeous classic red called Rouge Sauvage (550). I seriously considered all the types of red in the collection, but I've always wanted the perfect iconic red, because it looks stunning with black, and I do tend to wear a lot of black! So happy I got these!

Spotlight On: Ariel's World

Recently I was contacted by Raylene from Ariel's World, asking if I'd like to try some of her candles and lip balm. After hitting up her website and reading some background on the company, I was excited to get involved. Raylene is a single Mum to gorgeous Ariel, a little girl with Down Syndrome. I loved reading her heartwarming story and was even more impressed when I saw that she donates part proceeds from sales of Ariel's World products to Down Syndrome NSW.

In the online shop, you'll find lip balms, candles and diffusers. There are two varieties of lip balm, three different diffuser fragrances and five different candles to choose from, as well as a set containing a Xmas Candle and Lip Balm! I was sent an Ariel Candle*, Ariel Candle Mojito*, Ariel's World Lip Treatment Balm* and a Candy Cane Lip Balm*. Keep reading for my thoughts!

Ariel Candle and Ariel Candle Mojito

I'm not the biggest user of candles; don't get me wrong, I don't dislike candles. In fact, quite the opposite! I enjoy having a candle burning and find it really relaxing, I just never seem to get around to lighting my candles! Well, that has to change. If trialling these candles has taught me anything, it's that I need to slow down, chill out, stop stressing and take the time to relax and enjoy life.

These gorgeous candles weigh 320g and have 60 hours of burn time. I'm still going with mine, so I can't verify that claim. I'd rather make them last and enjoy them over time than burn through them (literally!) too quickly. They are double wick candles and are individually handcrafted in Australia using soy wax. The wick is also eco-friendly as its made out of all natural fibres and doesn't contain any harmful metals such as lead.

The black one is the Ariel Candle, featuring the signature scent. It smells beautiful, and despite being concerned it may give me a headache, it doesn't. Here's the description of the fragrance:

"Our signature scent is in a soothing woody musky base of Patchouli, with notes of exquisite sweet floral Jasmine and sun ripened nectarines infused with the crisp tangyness of blackcurrant berries."

The name Ariel means Lioness Of God. The Archangel Ariel is all about protecting animals and the natural world. This candle honours Ariel, who was born into our natural world with Down Syndrome. The fragrance encompasses embracing the natural scents that empower your senses while protecting the environment. Generously, $5 from every candle sold is donated to the Down Syndrome Association and Lifestart Australia, which helps children living with disabilities.

The pretty silver one is the exciting Mojito Ariel candle! I can't pass up anything cocktail-themed, so I was thrilled to receive this zingy baby. For the innocent amongst you, a Mojito is a Cuban highball boozy delight drink that consists of white rum, lime juice, sugar, soda water and mint. Yum! Let's delve into the fragrance description of this candle....

"A fresh crisp scent with notes of herbaceous mint and lush, juicy lime. Rounded off with middle notes of herbal garden leaves, lavender and a deep floral base."

I love fresh, clean scents and I'm also a citrussy aroma kinda gal. I'm immediately drawn to anything that has the words lemon, lime, orange, grapefruit, mandarin or tangerine on it. Despite the Mojito candle also having a strong floral base, I didn't find that it overpowered the lime. I really like burning this one to give my house a nice fresh fragrance, and as I mentioned earlier, the relaxing nature of candle-burning is something I appreciate and need to experience more often!

Ariel's World Lip Balms

"Ariel Lip Balm is nourishing and restorative thanks to bio active emollients. The sweet mixed berry and nectarine flavour makes lips even more kissable! $1 from every lip balm sold goes to Down Syndrome NSW."

Ariel's World lip balms come in lightweight plastic tubes with pull off/click on lids, and operate with a simple wind-up mechanism. You get 5g of product in each tube, and they are available in two varieties; the original Lip Treatment Balm and Candy Cane. The formula for both balms is nice and thin and really smooth to apply. The lip treatment appears white in the tube, with the Candy Cane balm appearing slightly yellow, but they both go on clear and leave my lips with a beautifully moisturised feel and glossy appearance.

Lip Treatment Ingredients: Coconut Oil, Shea Butter Liquid, Meadowfoam Seed Oil, Fruit Olio Wax, Olive Squalene, Candelilla Wax, Vitamin E, Macadamia Wax, Flavour, Stevia.

Candy Cane Balm Ingredients: Coconut Oil. Cocoa Butter, Castor Seed Oil, Shea Butter Liquid, Candelilla Wax, Vitamin E, Flavour, Stevia.

I use the Candy Cane balm when I crave that minty/candy apple scent, and appreciate that it contains Stevia, a natural plant-based sweetener, instead of sugar. It's awesome for prepping lips before makeup, using straight after stepping out of the shower, and before going to bed at night. I love how soft and healthy it makes my lips feel. The original lip treatment is a fantastic, kid-friendly product that would be great for children, teens, men, women who aren't into fancy products and anyone wanting a basic, affordable, nice-feeling, effective lip balm. My nine year old son loves it and uses it before we leave for school and if we are going out on the weekends. His lips tend to get quite dry and it really nourishes and hydrates his lips quickly.

The lip balms are vegan and cruelty-free and handmade in Australia. They retail for only $8.50 a pop, with $1 being donated to the Down Syndrome charity.

I love that if you purchase an Ariel's World lip balm or candle it means you're supporting a great cause and helping make a difference for kids living with disabilities. If you're keen to read more about Ariel's journey, you can do that here.

Review: Rimmel The Only 1 Matte Lipstick Collection*

Hands up if you remember Rimmel's The Only 1 lipstick collection! The range was long-lasting, comfortable to wear and moisturising (here's my Review of that collection). Well now Rimmel have released The Only 1 Matte lipstick range* and I'm in heaven! For the most part these lippies are receiving rave reviews in the beauty blogging world and it's easy to see why. But before we delve into that, let's see what Rimmel claim about this new lipstick collection.

Rimmel: "The lipstick revolution continues… Rimmel London’s The Only 1 Lipstick goes MATTE. Long-lasting, non-drying colour, with a stylish velvety matte finish, The Only 1 Matte Lipstick has it ALL. No more compromise."

I'm usually not a huge lover of matte lipsticks, because most of the ones I've tried have left my lips feeling dry and uncomfortable. As soon as I slicked on High Flyer, I knew I was in love. The formula is silky smooth, there's no dragging and the velvet-like (yet matte!) finish is ultra-comfortable. Seriously, if you avoid matte lippies because you hate that 'dry lip' feel, you must check these out! When you rub your lips together, the product feels creamy and moisturising, yet you get the benefit of a long-lasting lipstick. One thing I suck at is keeping my lipstick in place because I'm always smacking my lips together, but I find with these, despite excessive lip-smacking, the product stays clean-looking and in place. I usually get bleeding at the corners, but that is minimal with The Only 1 Matte lipsticks. Now even though these are long-lasting, I did have to re-apply them after eating a proper meal (but not after just eating a snack or drinking). So they didn't last all day, but probably around four or so hours for me.

I find these easy to apply without needing the definition of a lip liner, but some may prefer pointed tip lipsticks (I used to!). I like the rounded circle 'flat edge' shape and find I can define my cupids bow easily with it. With the darker shades I'll outline with liner first, time permitting, just because it's a bolder look so I want to ensure I've got a clean line!

I must say I'm not the biggest fan of the scent of these lipsticks. I must be getting more sensitive because it didn't bother me with the Rimmel The Only 1 collection! It's quite a strong sweet fruity scent, and I usually love fruity smells (lol), but it's just strange to have it on your lips. Luckily, that's the only drawback for me, and the colours, performance, look and feel of this range far outweighs the scent issue.

The colour pay-off is impressive and the nine shades in the collection are wearable, flattering and fun.  There's something for everyone I believe, even for the wild child out there (that purple!). I do have my favourites, so let's have a look at the swatches...

Photo taken in artificial light. Top to bottom: 110 - 810 in numerical order
Photo taken in natural light. Top to bottom: 110 - 810 in numerical order

Swatches (from top to bottom):
110 Leader Of The Pink
120 Call The Shots
200 Salute
500 Take The Stage
610 High Flyer
700 Trendsetter
750 Look Who's Talking
800 Run The Show
810 The Matte Factor

High Flyer is my all-time favourite shade and the first one I reached for when I received these in the mail. This is a dusty pink/mauve that I'm 100% comfortable wearing during the day as it looks so flattering on my pale skintone.

Salute is a pale nude pink, a my-lips-but-better shade for me. This one is a subtle look and is great for pairing with a smokey, emphasised eye. Perfect for daywear and popping down to the shops, as it's a no-hassle shade you can apply and forget about.

Trendsetter is a light brown nude, that much like Salute, I enjoy wearing during the day as an apply-and-forget about shade. This one tends to wear off me quicker than the darker shades.

Leader Of The Pink is probably my least favourite shade, as it's a candy, Barbie-like pink that I feel doesn't really suit me. It's quite feminine looking if that's your thing!

I love Call The Shots! It's a bright fuchsia that's bold, fun and super-flattering. I know I'll get a lot of use out of this shade. It's right up my alley!

Run The Show is an out-there purple that some people will love and some people would prefer to avoid I'm guessing! It's fun and I love that Rimmel have included such a unique colour. I don't know how much use I'll get out of it as I'll have to be in a certain type of mood to think I can pull it off! It's definitely fun and pretty though!

Take The Stage is a show-stopping bold sexy deep red. It's beautiful and would be perfect for an event or a night out on the town! Adore it!

The Matte Factor is a really dark, deep plummy red that looks super-dark on me because I'm so pale! This is a shade I'd have to be feeling quite bold to wear out!

And finally Look Who's Talking is a chocolate brown shade that would be great for the colder months. I think it would be a lot of people's cup of tea!

So to sum up, my picks would be High Flyer, Call The Shots and Take The Stage. I love that they've included such an interesting range of colours, and on the whole this range is a winner for me!

These babies are on sale now at Chemist Warehouse! I don't make any money if you click through and buy, just letting you know. LOL!

Review: Harvest Garden Coffee Goodness*!

Hello! Towards the end of last year I was lucky enough to be sent a package of mostly coffee-themed goodies from the lovely people at Harvest Garden. I'd previously tried this all natural brand after enjoying a Harvest Garden Lavender with Washed Australian Blue Clay Soap from the Bloggers United AU Adelaide Event Goody Bag. Soaps, shower gels and scrubs are some of my most favourite beauty products to try, I don't know why, but I've just always been super into them. Harvest Garden pride themselves on making skincare from natural ingredients, with no nasty additives. Today I'll be talking about the Coffee & Salt Soap*, Coffee Body Scrub with Brown Sugar, Cinnamon & Vanilla* and the Peppermint & Matcha Lip Balm.*

Coffee & Salt Soap*

'Ground coffee is a natural exfoliant and helps remove dead skin, while its properties help keep the skin fresh. Coffee can be beneficial in reducing cellulite as well. The massage and exfoliation benefits skin by stimulating blood/lymph flow and the caffeine in the coffee has a tightening effect. The addition of sea salt makes this bar work double time! The salt gives your skin a a deep cleanse by exfoliating dead skin cells and also has antiseptic qualities.'

I've really been enjoying this soap bar, especially because I've always loved exfoliating soaps. For ages I used the exfoliating Dove Beauty Bar and before that a lemon one that was oh-so-scratchy, but right up my alley. This Harvest Garden bar contains sea salt pieces that are quite abrasive, so you have to be careful no to apply too much pressure when soaping yourself. Personally, I love the 'scratchy' feeling as it gives your whole body a lovely massage and a satisfying 'scratching that itch' feeling. This is too harsh to use directly on the face, although it can be used gently on softer areas. I go to town on my thighs and upper arms because its said to reduce cellulite and the caffeine is supposed to tighten the skin, and Lord know I need help in those regions! This is quite a creamy soap that gives a medium lather. Interestingly, the ground coffee helps to eliminate garlic and onion odours, so I'd recommend keeping it in the kitchen for washing your hands after making French Onion Soup or throwing garlic cloves at vampires. The ingredients include sea salt, coffee beans, beeswax and coconut, macadamia nut, sweet almond and extra virgin olive oils.

Harvest Garden also make many other fabulous sounding soaps including Sweet Orange & Cinnamon with Saffron; Rosemary & Tea Tree with Comfrey; Lemongrass, Olive Leaf Extract & Ground Flaxseed and Honey & Oatmeal. You can also buy a Soap Slices Sampler Pack so you can try multiple soaps!

Coffee Body Scrub with Brown Sugar, Cinnamon & Vanilla*

'Refreshingly sweet and spicy and packed full of botanical extracts, antioxidants, vitamins and minerals. Designed to tighten and tone your skin, buff away dead skin cells, draw out impurities and leave your skin soft and glowing.'

I must admit, after ripping open the top of the packet, I had a bit of difficulty opening the seal on this, but it may just have been my lack of upper body strength/general ineptitude! The good news is that it seals well, meaning no product will spill out and get wasted. The first thing that hits you is an overwhelmingly delicious and strong coffee scent! This scrub is a deep dark brown and it's packed in there like the way brown sugar sits in the packet; all stuck together but soft and malleable. It's quite a moist mixture and there's a combination of smaller and larger scrubby particles. This scrub feels great and smells amazing (it's a really strong coffee aroma, seriously!) and is nowhere near as abrasive as the Coffee & Salt Soap. Afterwards my skin felt so smooth and soft, as well as nourished and super moisturised! When rinsing it off, the water formed little droplets on my skin, as if there was an oily residue, but none could be felt whatsoever. Instead, my skin just felt really clean and healthy, and smelled delicious! The ingredients in this scrub include coffee beans, brown sugar, certified organic raw sugar, sweet almond oil, Vitamin E, cinnamon powder, licorice root extract and Vanilla Oleoresin. If you hit up this page on the Harvest Garden website it tells you what each ingredient does and its benefits.

Other delicious-sounding Harvest Garden scrubs include Coconut Body Polish with Rosehip & Pomegranate and the Matcha Body Scrub with Peppermint, Passionflower & Bamboo.

Peppermint & Matcha Lip Balm*

'This soothing blend of butters and oils moisturises, repairs and protects your lips. Enriched with shea butter for added nourishment, peppermint for its cooling sensation and matcha green tea for its antioxidant benefits.'

Another winner from Harvest Garden! This balm has a strong peppermint scent and is so refreshing and cooling upon application. I've been using it first thing in the morning and last thing at night before going to bed, to keep my lips moisturised overnight. I also love to use it at the start of my makeup routine, to soften and prepare my lips for the lip products that will follow! You could easily wear this out on its own if you're that way inclined, as it has a nice shiny finish with a slight shimmer. I don't know it it's just me, but some lip balms make me cough; I'm pleased to say this balm doesn't trigger any coughing, which is why I love wearing it to bed. The only negative is that the winder no longer winds the product back down, so I have to push it down with my finger after use. But this is a minor quibble and for a balm that only costs $6 and has everything else going for it, I don't really mind. Along with shea butter, matcha green tea and peppermint, this also contains sweet almond oil, macadamia nut oil, Vitamin E and essential oils.

If this flavour doesn't take your fancy, they also make Orange, Ginger & Turmeric; Tinted Rose & Pomegranate and the refreshing-sounding Pink Grapefruit & Passionflower lip balms!

You can buy these products and more from the Harvest Garden website.

September Favourites!

Hello! We are away on a two week Staycation for the school holidays but have just popped home for the weekend, so I thought I'd type up my September Favourites! I can't blog from where we're staying, so unfortunately replying to comments is taking a while and I'm not getting a chance to comment back on your blogs at the moment. But we are escaping the bathroom renovation work, which means I don't have to wee in front of workmen or put up with loud, annoying drilling (or whatever the hell it is they do) sounds. Can't wait for it to be over and things to return to normal!

Anyhoo, my September Favourites consists of five fabulous products that have been rocking my world on a daily basis (up until the bathroom renovation started anyway!). Let me know if you've tried any of them in the comments. I'd love to hear your thoughts!

It's as good as it looks!

Oh Deer Sugar Rose & Passionfruit Shower Moose
First of all, let's appreciate the clever moose/mousse pun. I thought it was a spelling error until the joke dawned on me! And now for the actual product. This gorgeous, bright pink 'moose' is delightfully fluffy and whipped to perfection. The consistency is amazing, and the lovely fragrance is out of this world. This applies like a dream, leaves my skin soft and clean, and smells of roses and fruit. The rose petals add a special touch of luxury, too. I really can't find a single fault with this product, and y'all need to haul arse to Regent Arcade in Adelaide and check it out. If you don't live in Adelaide, check out the Oh Deer Sugar website, as they deliver Australia-wide, too.

Tarte Maracuja Creaseless Concealer

Tarte Maracuja Creaseless Concealer
I'm always on the hunt for good concealers, and right now, this is my favourite. I'd previously been using Maybelline Fit Me concealer, which is good, but I was finding the coverage inadequate. The Tarte concealer is versatile and I love that I can use it anywhere on my face. It's great at covering red blemishes around my chin and is amazing over the top of my Bobbi Brown Corrector under my eyes. I hate concealers that settle into fine lines and accentuate them, but this products really lives up to the 'creaseless' title. I apply it with a little brush under my eyes then blend out with a makeup sponge, and I get a really nice, natural-looking finish from it. I only wish there was more product in the tube, as I'm going through it quite quickly! I purchased this in my Sephora Haul on my Melbourne trip.

Rimmel Moisture Renew Sheer & Shine Lipstick in Pink Rules (300)*
I've reviewed this range of Rimmel lipsticks here but in terms of favourites, one particular lipstick from the collection stands out; Pink Rules. This is such an easy to wear lipstick. The hydrating formula is just that, hydrating and moisturising, and so comfortable to wear on the lips. The bright pink shade is really pretty, flattering and perfect now that the weather is warming up. I love the stain that this leaves behind. Wearing it blotted down is an easy, effortless look, and one I'm really enjoying lately!

Product at top: Ardell Mechanical Brow Pencil

Ardell Mechanical Brow Pencil
I originally discovered this product when I won a big pack of Ardell products in an Instagram giveaway, and I've been hooked ever since. I don't know if it's the strange triangular design, or if my application has improved, but my brows are looking more natural than when I was using my previous eyebrow pencil. I've been using this, along with some Ardell Pomade (when time permits) and some Benefit Gimme Brow and I'm so much happier with my brows. The triangular pencil design really allows me to vary the line thickness, depending on what look I'm going for. The only problem is actually finding this pencil in-store! I had to visit three Priceline stores to find it. It is available online here but personally I prefer to shop in-store!

Top right: Lush Passion Fruit Lip Balm

Lush Passion Fruit Lip Balm*
I was kindly sent this along with a bunch of other Lush lip balms and tooth products. In terms of the lip balms, my two favourite scents are the Key Lime Pie and Passion Fruit, but this is the one I've been reaching for every night before bed. This has a thin consistency, glides on easily and feels slick on the lips. I love that it makes my lips feel really soft and nourished. I feel like Lush have improved the design of their little metal screw-top tins as well. I remember a few Christmas lip balm releases where the tin was hard to open and never really closed properly, but no such issues with this collection. Passion Fruit appears orange in the tin. It has a slight shimmer with tiny sparkly particles and once applied imparts an ever-so-subtle orange tint. I absolutely adore the fruity fragrance of this product!

Rimmel Moisture Renew Sheer & Shine Lipsticks*

Hello strangers! As you may have guessed, I've been a hilarious combination of sick, busy and stressed recently, so I've been a bit quiet on the blogging front. It's hard to plan a kid's party, shop and bake everything when you're under the weather, but at the same time, I was kindly sent a set of six Rimmel Sheer & Shine lipsticks* a while back and I've really been wanting to tell you about them! I've posted about them on Instagram, but now it's time to have a closer look at the new range!

These babies have both shade names and numbering on the label. I received:

100 - Woke Up Like This
200- Glow-Rious Pink
300 - Pink Rules
500 - Red-y, Set, Go!
600 - Spin All Spring!
700 - Better & Brighter

(left - right) 100, 200, 300, 500, 600, 700.

They are called Moisture Renew Sheer & Shine and I'm definitely feeling the sheer and shine aspect! In my swatch photo I've had to apply a few layers of product otherwise the lighter shades don't really show up on my arm. I like that these can be built up for a bolder look, or worn as a light, sheer tint of colour.

The finish is very shiny and pretty and I found these lipsticks wore quite comfortably on the lips. I'm kind of terrible at keeping non-matte formulas on my lips for long due to my habit of smacking my lips together, so for me these didn't last that long before I had to re-apply. I know it defeats the 'shine' purpose of the formula, but I actually prefer to wear these blotted off, as I like the flattering 'tint' left behind, especially from Pink Rules (300) and Red-y, Set, Go! (500).

(top - bottom): 100, 200, 300, 500, 600, 700.

Woke Up Like This (100) is too light for me and Better & Brighter (700) is right on my borderline of looking acceptable in terms of my colouring, but I may use it as a moisturisation boost before bed instead of a going-out lipstick! Spin All Spring! (600) looks confronting in the tube, however because it's so sheer, it looks really pretty if I use a light hand. Glow-Rious Pink (200) is a candy pink that for me looks the best as is (un-blotted) because it's subtle and isn't as much of a disaster once it starts to slip.

My picks of the bunch are Pink Rules (300) and Red-y, Set, Go! (500). Pink Rules is a gorgeous, bright and cheerful fuchsia pink, and as previously mentioned, it leaves a lovely stain on the lips if you blot it after application. Pink Rules, along with Red-y, Set, Go! are my absolute faves of the range. Overall, the Moisture Renew Sheer & Shine lipsticks are a great range from Rimmel, with some lovely shades perfect for Spring!
