Happy New Year + Zoya Manicure!

Happy New Year! Yay, it's 2017, you guys! Hope you all had a wonderful New Year's Eve celebration, and had fun ringing in the New Year. I stayed home, downed some champagne and watched the fireworks on TV. Just the way I like it. Keep reading for my Zoya manicure!

New Years Eve was spent watching the fireworks from my lounge!

Yara nail polish by Zoya is such an interesting shade! Hubby saw it and asked "What colour is that?" and I answered army green. It contains tiny bits of silver glitter, so it's like a glam khaki (for the win!).

What pleased me the most though, was the ease of application of this no-fuss formula. Honestly, it was so forgiving. I only needed one coat (yes!) because you can actually smooth it out during application making it opaque and even in one go. Even as it's drying, Yara behaves like an angel allowing you to add more to thin areas and build up the colour, something I never attempt with other polishes.

When I applied Faby Top Coat, however, it started to remove some of the colour beneath it. I did ensure it was dry first, so I have no idea why this happened. It has happened to me before with other tops coats, too, so please enlighten me on this phenomenon if you know why it happens!

Nude Sparkly Zoya Nails!

Zoya professional lacquer in Diem

Something amazing happened: I cleaned up. In the process I found an old lover, my Zoya 'professional lacquer' in Diem. Oh how I longed for thee! Not really, I'd completely forgotten about it, but that doesn't mean I wasn't excited to slick this baby on my talons! I fondly remember the faint pretty sparkle of the flattering pinky-nude hue.

Work your magic!

Something else amazing happened: for the first time pretty much ever, I actually prepped with A'kin Lavender, Geranium & Jojoba Hand, Nail & Cuticle Creme. It was a lot thicker than I expected, but with a subtle, pleasant fragrance and (most importantly) the ability to soften any dry bits of skin and make my hands look presentable in these photos.

Conservative, no?

Shiny!

Two coats, no top coat

Disclaimer: I won both of these products. This is a non-sponsored post.
