Special Buy: David Jones Deluxe Beauty Edit Bag!

Hi guys! I got an email from David Jones alerting me to a 'special buy', this Deluxe Beauty Edit Bag, valued at over $250, which you could purchase for just $39.95. This was touted as an Online Exclusive, however there was no option to buy it online, so I was confused, along with other eager beauty lovers complaining on the David Jones Facebook page! Come Monday, I immediately emailed hubby the link and asked if he could check it out for me, thinking he'd go to DJ's in his lunch break. My awesome hubby left his desk immediately on the quest for this bag (isn't he amazing?), and lucky he did! He was first told they had sold out (eeeeek!), then another SA checked and they had received a few more in. YAY! So here I am blogging about it today, and I'm pretty excited to get stuck in and try out these 'deluxe' beauty products!

Here's what I got in my Bag:

~ Oribe Gold Lust Dry Shampoo
~ Sampar So Much To Dew Midnight Mask
~ Weleda Skin Food
~ Kiehl's Midnight Recovery Concentrate
~ Clinique Take The Day Off Cleansing Balm
~ Shiseido Essential Energy Moisturizing Cream
~ Elizabeth Arden Advanced Ceramide Capsules
~ Lancome Genifique Youth Activating Cream

~ Guerlain Abeille Royale Daily Repair Age-Defying Serum
~ Ella Bache Eternal Beautifying Eye Cream
~ Philosophy Purity Exfoliating Clay Mask
~ Molton Brown Vetiver & Grapefruit Bath & Shower Gel
~ MAC Prep + Prime Skin Base
~ Clarins Lip Comfort Oil in Candy
~ L'Occitane Immortelle Reset Overnight Oil-In Serum
~ Cremorlab T.E.N. Starter Kit (Fresh Water Gel & Mineral Treatment Essence)
~ Narciso Rodriguez Narciso Eau De Parfum
~ Versace Dylan Blue Eau De Parfum
~ Carolina Herrera Good Girl Eau De Parfum

As you can see, this bag is filled with samples of high-end brands. I'm really keen to try the majority of them, and now that I've photographed and blogged about it, I can LOL #beautybloggerlife I need to mention how cute the Good Girl fragrance sample is; look at the mini high heel bottle, you guys! I'm in love! I'm also super happy to get a weeks supply of Elizabeth Arden Ceramide Capsules as I love the effect they have on my skin, but never buy them for myself. Also included is a $10 David Jones Beauty Gift Card which can be redeemed on selected brands included in the bag.

The page on the David Jones website advertising this offer has been removed, but then it was never available to buy online. I know that David Jones Adelaide Central Plaza has sold out and they are unsure if they are getting anymore in, so if you're interested it's best to try your local David Jones beauty counter. This offer was super popular though, as you can imagine!

REVIEW: Weleda KIDS 2in1 Shampoo & Body Wash*

Hi guys! Today I want to tell you about a new range from Weleda, designed especially for kids, the Weleda KIDS 2in1 Shampoo & Body Wash*! I was kindly sent the Happy Orange fragrance for my 10 year old son to try, and he's loving it. To be honest, it's a bit of a struggle to get him into the shower, so anything that's going to make the cleaning and hair-washing process easier gets the tick of approval from me!

I love that this is a multi-tasking product, because that cuts down on time and effort, and just quietly, the barrage of questions being yelled out from the bathroom. "What do I do next?", "Which shampoo do I use?", "Should I use conditioner now?". Kids can use this to wash their bodies and their hair; one tube = less confusion, more speed and less questions for Mum. It's a win win!

We received the Happy Orange fragrance. This is a beautiful citrus scent that's uplifting, refreshing and zingy-smelling (it doesn't make your body tingle though, thank goodness!). I'm really glad we got orange because my son is a big fan and I've always preferred citrus scents over most others. Tangy orange essential oil has been blended with vanilla to create this fruity, happy scent. Alternate fragrances in the KIDS 2in1 Shampoo & Body Wash range are Lively Lime and Very Vanilla. In a world full of gender stereotyping, Weleda have strived to make this range gender-neutral, with their coloured packaging and cute animal-themed design featuring pictures of hippos, dolphins and seals that will appeal equally to boys and girls.

The wash is NATRUE-certified natural, cruelty free, vegan-friendly and free from mineral oils, silicones, artificial preservatives and harsh synthetic detergents. The detergents used in this KIDS range are biodegradable, plant-based and made from fermented sugar and coconut oil. Organic sesame oil helps to preserve the skin's natural moisture balance, since it's rich in vitamin E and unsaturated fatty acids.

The formula is lovely and creamy and perfect for kids. Weleda have used carefully formulated ingredients specifically for kids, as their skin tends to be dry with an underdeveloped barrier function before the age of puberty. I actually can't think of anything negative about this product, which is always a good sign! In Mr 10's own words, he described this Weleda product thusly: "the smell of it is really, really good, like an orange lollipop". Hehe.

This is something I'd recommend if you have kids and are after something that's easy to use, multitasking, and smells nice. It may even make your kids enjoy shower/bath-time more!

Weleda KIDS 2in1 Shampoo & Body Wash is RRP$14.95 and available from David Jones, selected health stores, pharmacies and from Weleda's online store.

Mother's Day Gift Guide!

Well hello May! With Mother's Day fast approaching, I thought I'd put together my recommendations for lovely presents, in the form of my (hopefully!) helpful Mother's Day Gift Guide! I'm a Mum myself, so I'm well aware some of us have a tendency to put ourselves last. So this Guide will be focussed on gorgeous products that Mums can relax and pamper themselves with. Because if there's any day we should indulge in 'me time' on, it has to be Mother's Day! Read on for some delightful pampering gifts ideas and let me know which is your favourite in the comments!

GUESS 1981 Eau de Toilette Spray*
This fragrance comes in a cute pale pink box and the bottle itself is minimal and stylish, with a round design and a square silver lid. Described as elegant, sophisticated and graceful, the scent is feminine, modern and sexy. Guess 1981 would be perfect for date night, as it's sensual and musky with a strong floral scent. In terms of composition, the top notes are violet and ambrette seed, with a fruity and floral heart of pear, jasmine petals and sandalwood and a base of musk, amber and cedar wood.  Available in 50ml and 100ml eau de toilette bottles, you can either go all out and buy this as Mum's major gift, or get the super-cute smaller size and add it as an extra gift to spoil her!

Available from May. Stockists unavailable at time of posting. Priceline and Chemist Warehouse stock Guess fragrance though, so my best Guess (haha) would be there.

Oh Deer Sugar Ombre Bubblebath Macarons
This three pack of ombre bubblebath macarons are possibly the cutest thing I've ever bought! I fall more in love with Oh Deer Sugar every time I step inside this South Australian non-edible bakery, and I went so far as to treat myself with an online haul the day they released their Mother's Day range! (Look out for that blog post in the future). These smell amazing and are pink, pretty and the perfect Mother's Day gift because everyone loves a fragrant bubblebath, right? The scents are apricot and grapefruit, peaches and cream and peony and nectarine. I talk about Oh Deer Sugar Oh Peachy Keen Shower Moose in my March Favourites and the Oh Passion Rose & Passionfruit Shower Moose in my September Favourites, such is my love for these products.

Available at Oh Deer Sugar in Regent Arcade, Adelaide or at Oh Deer Sugar online.

Sally Hansen Color Therapy Nail Polish*
The reason this is 'color therapy' is because the formula contains Argan Oil, so it's supposed to 'care while you wear'. I love multi-tasking products, and this is a nail polish, top coat, cuticle and nail oil in one! I have trialled these polishes and I really love them. I think combining nail colour (which a lot of us enjoy wearing) with a nail treatment is a fantastic idea, because multi-tasking for the win, right guys? I can recommend the shade Pampered in Pink (third from the left in the above photo - check out my Manicure and Review of that here) because it's bright, cheerful, feminine and I love how it looks on my nails. I think a lot of other Mothers would love it, too!

Available at Priceline, Target, Kmart, Chemist Warehouse, Woolworths and Coles.

Urban Rituelle Wellness Cleansing Bars*
If you're looking for something a little bit special this Mother's Day, I can highly recommend these luxurious cleansing bars from Urban Rituelle. They're a bit more expensive than other soaps, but they are high quality, super large in size so they last ages and the fragrances are out of this world! Before I wax lyrical about the scents, these cleansing bars from the new Harvest range are also palm oil free, vegan friendly and Aussie made using 100% naturally derived ingredients. Being a huge citrus lover, I was delighted to trial Grapefruit, Lemon, Pineapple & Celery; Blood Orange, Papaya & Mandarin and lastly Lemon Myrtle, Lemongrass & Muddled Mint. The other fragrances are Guava, Cranberry & Goji Berries; Rose Infused Coconut Water, Cucumber and Aloe and lastly Coconut, Honey, Almond & Chia.

Available at Urban Rituelle online or click here for Stockists in your area.

Weleda Tinted Lip Balm in Rose*
I've really been enjoying my Weleda Tinted Lip Balm in the Rose shade lately and think it would make a great addition to any Mother's Day gift. The formula is creamy and slightly moussey, the product feels beautiful on the lips and the finish is a flattering, shimmery light pink colour. It's like wearing a balm that's hydrating and moisturising your lips, nourishing them and making them softer whilst also giving you a soft wash of colour. This range also comes in Nude, but this is too light for my skin tone, and Berry, which I don't have so I can't comment on that one. The balm smells of rose petals and vanilla, which is an added bonus! Click here to read my probably too cheeky Brand Focus on Weleda.

Available at David Jones, selected health food stores, pharmacies, online stores and Weleda online.

Natura Siberica Active Organics Revitalizing Bath Salts*
I highly recommend these Revitalizing Bath Salts from Natura Siberica; I've used them before and seriously didn't want my tub of goodness to end! They provide an incredibly relaxing bath that would be perfect for Pamper Sunday, or Pamper any-day-of-the-week! The fragrance of these herbal salts is freakin' delightful. Even my nine year old son, who turns his nose up at a lot of smells despite producing questionable ones himself (heh), went "ahhh" when he smelt these. The ingredients include Siberian Ginseng, Rose Hip Oil and Calendula Flower Extract. I've reviewed this lovely product here.

Available at Natura Siberica online or discounted at Chemist Warehouse.

Harvest Garden French Green Clay Facial Masque*
To add to Mum's 'me time' on Mother's Day, you can't go wrong with a lovely face mask. I'm a big believer in Pamper Sunday, which usually involves a relaxing bath, a face mask and a DIY manicure if I get around to it! This Harvest Garden Facial Masque contains French Green Clay, Olive Green Australian Clay, Matcha Green Tea and Aloe Vera extract. The super-fun part is that you mix it yourself and paint it on with a brush; I love this because it brings out the artist in me! The benefits are refined pores, a reduction in irritation and revitalized skin. Clay draws out impurities, clarifies and detoxes the skin. I love Harvest Garden products and you can read my review of more from their range here.

Available at various pharmacies, health food stores, florists, giftware stores and Harvest Garden online.

Rustic Bliss Lemon And Lime Bath Milk*
Have you guessed yet that I have a penchant for bath products? This lemon and lime milk dissolves leaving you with an amazing, zesty, citrus-smelling bath that is super relaxing! I love the sweet candy-like fragrance of this Blissful bath milk that's invigorating and soothing at the same time. Check out my review of this gorgeous Rustic Bliss product here.

Available at Rustic Bliss online.

Brand Focus: Weleda Skincare*

Before being introduced to them at the Bloggers United Adelaide Event, I really didn't know much about skincare brand Weleda, and I don't think I'd ever used any of their products. As I listened to the details of Weleda's background, I really began to like what I heard. It sounded like Weleda had strong ethical beliefs, were environmentally responsible and really cared about our planet and the people living on it. And so I began to tingle internally in a completely appropriate and not at all weird way.

"Weleda - in harmony with nature and the human being".

Weleda was founded in 1921 by humanitarian Rudolf Steiner, a dude who developed the principles of biodynamic farming and anthroposophical medicine when he could have been downing beers whilst marathoning Game of Thrones. His interests were esotericism and metaphysics and I'm just gonna go out on a limb and say he would never follow Kim Kardashian on Instagram.  It's safe to say Rudolph had his shit together. He was also kinda hot for someone born in 1861? Let's have a look at Rudolf....

Anyone else getting a Jeremy Irons vibe?

Anyhoo, today I'll give you my thoughts on a couple of Weleda products I've been trying out. Bloggers at the Adelaide event were gifted the cult classic Skin Food*, and we could also select a body care product to try. I chose the Pomegranate Creamy Body Wash*, because pomegranate. Hello! There were some gorgeous fragrances to choose from in the creamy body wash range, including Lavender, Wild Rose, Sea Buckthorn, Citrus, and Almond (for sensitive skin). I love the packaging design of both products. The bright red and green coloured tubes are cheerful and bold, and the white text on the coloured background stands out well. The directions are clear and easy to read, although the writing's a bit smaller on the body wash.

Pomegranate Creamy Body Wash

"This precious body wash inspires your senses with a unique fragrance, while oils from pomegranate seeds, sesame and macadamia nuts render your skin perfectly soft. Inspiring scents of sandalwood, vanilla, neroli and blood orange have a balancing effect on the body. Protects against dryness leaving skin soft and smooth."

Although shower gels are my all-time favourite shower product, I've noticed creams are becoming more popular recently, and I can see why. This body wash is creamy and luxurious to use, and makes me feel a bit special for the five minutes I'm cleansing with it. I was surprised to see that the wash was white, as I was expecting something along the red or at least pink spectrum, given its Pomegranate title. I'm assuming that's because it's free of synthetic colours and preservatives. This smells fruity, fresh and delicious. It's quite strongly-fragranced, but not overbearing in the slightest. My skin is left soft and clean and I'm left feeling pampered!

Skin Food

"Skin Food is unique, deeply nourishing and intensely hydrating whole-body cream that restores and protects your skin. Ingredients are 100% natural and include extracts of organic chamomile, calendula and wild pansy to soothe rough skin. Revitalising rosemary will boost dull complexions. These calming extracts are gently blended with enriching sunflower, lanolin and sweet almond oils and waxes to provide a fine protective barrier against the ravages of wind and weather. Sweet orange and lavandulae pure essential oils are included in the refreshing fragrance."

I may be pretty meticulous when it comes to my daily skincare routine face-wise, but I'm really slack when it comes to moisturising my body! So I'm not surprised my body has been looking a lot healthier since I started slathering Skin Food on before bed each night. I began applying this dry skin saviour to my neglected elbows, but soon realised the rest of my arms, my shoulders and chest may wish to join the party. This is a super thick, yellow-tinged cream that requires patience and commitment to rub in. The good news is, you get a relaxing massage as you slowly work Skin Food in, which is fun any time of day (but especially right before going to sleep). This leaves my skin so nourished, moisturised and soft, and kind of makes me wonder why I don't usually bother moisturising my body? I love the fragrance, too, even though I'm struggling to describe it! I was worried, given the thick consistency, I'd be bothered by a residual greasy feeling, but my skin seriously just devours this Skin Food. Haha! Oh how the tables have turned.
