Bloom Sibella II Nail Polish: A GoldFinger Manicure!

rrp: $19:95

I won Sibella I and II from the Bloom Sibella Court range of nail polishes a few months ago, and finally got around to applying the more exciting of the two, Gypsy Gold. The other one is called Tattered Grey.

Bloom say: "Developed in collaboration with one of Australia's leading interior stylists, Sibella Court, this metallic shade of gypsy gold was inspired by coins that exchanged hands time and time again for trading gypsy wares. With pigments sourced from around the world, a professional two-coat formula and an incredible 330-strand brush, our nail polish will hold its colour and shine for days."

This rich gold colour with a strong metallic finish is striking and bold, gleaming at me throughout the day.

Welcome to my GoldFinger Manicure!

Diane Kruger: Red Hot!

Actress (and main squeeze of actor Joshua Jackson) Diane Kruger looking super hot at the amfAR Inspiration Gala in Paris, June 2011.

I am loving this red hot dress, the cut, colour, length, everything! Also, Diane usually wears subtle earthy makeup, so this defined look with bright red lippy is a welcome change IMO. For the fashionistas out there, this is a silk Yves Saint Laurent gown. Pacey needs to thank his lucky stars!

Fergie: Fugly Fashion

Here's Fergie appearing at the amfAR Inspiration Gala in Paris, June 2011.

This 'Inspiring' outfit is actually from the Louis Vuitton Autumn/Winter 2011-12 collection. LOL. Awesome jacket. Also, if you spun that little purse around fast enough (think hammer-throw at the Olympics), I reckon you could knock a squirrel out with it.

Cop Out

Starring: Bruce Willis, Tracy Morgan, Jason Lee, Adam Brody, Kevin Pollack, Seann William Scott.
Genre: Comedy

This is the first film that Kevin Smith directed, but didn't write. Being a major Kevin Smith fan (my favourites are Clerks, Chasing Amy, Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back) I had to see this. After a slow start, which made me think the whole movie would be shit, this begins to pick up about a quarter of the way in. Praise Jesus. I wanted this to be good. It’s not good, but it is funny; typical of Smith’s work (although he didn’t write the screenplay) there are many film references peppered throughout, and most of all, Tracy Morgan stops screaming his lines after the first few scenes. The best thing about this film is Seann William Scott (from Dude, Where's My Car? and many other silly comedies) who pretty much steals (LOL! He plays a robber in this!) every scene he's in. Overall, an enjoyable buddy cop comedy flick. It was universally panned by critics upon its cinematic release, but it's really not as bad as they made it out to be. See it if only for Seann William Scott's hilarious performance.

Baby Mama

Starring: Tina Fey, Amy Poehler, Greg Kinnear, Sigourney Weaver, Steve Martin, Dax Shepard
Genre: Comedy

Last night Baby Mama was on TV, and I watched it. I didn't expect too much from it, and this was a good move on my part. It's a fairly predictable comedy about a successful businesswoman, Kate (Tina Fey), who in her late 30's finally decides she wants a baby. But her uterus is T-shaped (!) and thus her chances of falling pregnant naturally are as slim as Tina Fey herself. So, she hires wild and crazy Angie (Amy Poehler) to be a surrogate mother. And so the fun begins, as these chalk and cheese characters clash over, well, pretty much everything. It's good to see a film with woman in the lead roles, and men in the supporting roles for once. With strong performances from the entire cast, Baby Mama is a standard Hollywood feel-good flick, peppered with a few very amusing moments.

Skincare Routine: Overboard? Possibly!

I thought I'd post my current skincare routine for those interested, and also with the intention of doing updates in the future, when I'm using different products. Aah, also, I think I may be using too many products at the moment. Talk about addicted. Below is my skincare routine at its most comprehensive. Sometimes I will skip a product or two. I'm not a total loon!

FACE

MORNING
St. Ives Naturally Clear Green Tea Cleanser
Clinique 7 Day Scrub / Garnier PureActive Blackhead Clearing Scrub (alternating, use every 2-3 days)
Alpha-H Gentle Daily Exfoliant
Botani Olive Skin Serum Anti-Ageing Natural Moisturiser (few drops)
Olay Total Effects Anti-Ageing Cream
Clinique All About Eyes Serum
Dermalogica Clean Start Smart Mouth Lip Shine

NIGHT
TN Dickinson's Witch Hazel
The Jojoba Company Absolute Serum
Dr. LeWinns Line Smoothing Complex S8 Double Intensity Night Cream
Clinique All About Eyes
Carmex Original Lip Balm

BODY

St. Ives Moisturizing Olive Scrub
The Body Shop Wild Cherry Puree Body Lotion
The Body Shop Strawberry Body Butter

Does anyone know why it's called Clinique 7 Day Scrub? Are you only supposed to use it every 7 days? For 7 days in a row? I'm confused!

Blonde Princess with Unicorn

This is a Wall Art Canvas, which would be perfect for a Nursery or a Girl's Bedroom. Whoops, probably shouldn't plagiarise the whole thing. I'm loving this light-hearted, cheerful piece, complete with castle, weird rainbow and butterflies. I wonder what the Princess has been up to, her cheeks are awfully rosy! :o)

St. Ives Naturally Clear Green Tea Cleanser

** This product was provided for consideration. All opinions are my own.

rrp $9.99

St. Ives say: "St. Ives Naturally Clear Green Tea Cleanser helps to gently clear breakouts and soothe irritation caused by acne. Formulated with a blemish-fighting solution and 100 percent natural green tea, the cleanser washes and soothes skin. Green tea also helps to protect skin from harmful environmental factors and free radicals that are known to age skin. Oil, paraben and phthalate-free. Dermatologist tested. Hypoallergenic."

This green-coloured cleanser from St. Ives is very gentle on the skin and has an awesome smell, very refreshing and pleasant. It leaves my skin feeling clean, refreshed and smooth to the touch, and didn't dry my face out at all. I'd recommend it for young girls just starting with a skincare routine, as it’s very mild in formulation. Also it would be great for people in their 20’s or those with sensitive skin.

I found no real difference in the appearance of my skin after using this, however, I’m still pleased with its performance and will continue to use the bottle until it runs out. My skin is clear at the moment, but I think that’s more to do with my daily use of the fabulous Alpha-H Gentle Daily Exfoliant (reviewed here) which has done wonders for my skin. I digress. There’s nothing wrong with this cleanser; it’s gentle, effective, non-irritating on the skin and pleasant to use, it just doesn’t blow me away.

I’m loving that you can see exactly how much product is left in the clear bottle, and the push-down lid is very handy, as it’s easy to open in the shower with wet, slippery hands. I do have to use this in conjunction with an exfoliating scrub, as this gel alone isn't enough to give me a deep down clean. It’s an overall satisfactory-performing cleanser, that I won't purchase after my current bottle runs out.

Dove Foaming Make Up Remover

rrp $10.99

**I was provided this product for consideration. This review is my honest opinion.

Dove says: "Works effectively removing even the heaviest make up, including waterproof mascara, eye make up and foundation".

I've been using this unique make up remover for a few weeks and it's really growing on me. It's so different from the usual oil or cream based removers, because this one is foam. The instructions say to dispense 3 pumps of the lather onto your hand and apply to your wet or dry face including eye area to remove makeup. It's a pretty yellow liquid in the bottle, which transforms into a white foam when you pump it. I was worried about rubbing this foam into my eyes when I first received it, as it just doesn't seem right, but I put this fear aside and tried it, with a tissue very close at hand! The remover does work really well, as my foundation and concealer dissolve into nothingness very quickly after a short time massaging it into my cheeks. It takes a bit longer with eye make up, but when I gently massage the foam on my eye area, everything does dissolve away quite effectively.

My biggest tip with this Dove Remover is to have a tissue on hand to rub the foam and make up off your eye area as soon as it has dissolved. I haven't had the displeasure of this stuff getting in my eyes, so I don't know how much it would hurt, but it is better to prevent this than to find out! Also, in my opinion, this is not the kind of Make Up Remover that you can use then just apply your moisturiser straight after. It leaves your face with a residue that needs a lot of rinsing, so this product is best used in the shower so you can rinse your face thoroughly straight after. I actually like to see what I'm doing with it though, so I have the shower running and ready for me to get in, use the Dove Foaming Make Up Remover in front of the mirror, then hop straight in and rub my face under running water until all the foam and remaining residue have disappeared.

Having said that, it is a unique and fun Make Up Remover, and I am enjoying it. It's quite good value for money, and it's good that the bottle is clear, so you can see exactly how much of the product is left. I would definately consider buying this after my current bottle runs out.

Thor

Starring: Chris Hemsworth, Natalie Portman, Anthony Hopkins, Kat Dennings.
Genre: Superhero/Action

Saw Thor at the cinema yesterday in 3D. It was much better than I thought it would be! Charismatic star-in-the-making Chris Hemsworth does a fantastic job in the title role, and can I just say, the dude must have done a HELL-LOAD of training and exercise because he is HUGE! Seriously huge, bulging muscles (see photo below). 3D is used to great effect here, a lot of the scenes in the Asgard realm, particularly involving the Rainbow Bridge are just spectacular. Look out for a cameo from Stan Lee (as usual) AND stay til the end of the credits for a Marvel reveal.

Plotwise, Thor is an angry, reckless and in line to become King. However, his thoughtless, aggressive actions bring about a major fight with the scary icy dudes (the Frost Giants of Jotunheim) and as such his Father banishes him and takes away his mighty hammer as punishment. Boo! Director Kenneth Branagh does a great job with Thor; I thoroughly enjoyed the story, acting and gorgeous sparkly, colourful Rainbow Bridge. Stop! Hammer Time! :)

May Empties

My first ever Empties post! Here goes ......

Toni & Guy Refreshing Dry Shampoo
I love this stuff. It really works, and at 200mls you get more than most other dry shampoos. I really don't like advertising this product, though, because Toni & Guy Twitter PR are complete bastards. They goaded me into rating this product out of 10, then RTed my tweet without so much as a thank you or an explanation as to why they were requesting this of me. Bad PR.

Batiste Dry Shampoo in Original
Yes I use a lot of dry shampoo. Batiste make very reliable dry shampoo and this size is perfect for short trips. I actually dont buy this size, though, I won this in a competition. I buy it in the larger size, and usually in Tropical. And no sign of any Twitter PR bastardry :)

Dove Gentle Exfoliating Beauty Cream Bar
That's a fancy name for soap. My favourite soap. I love the feeling of the scratchy bits on my skin, softly exfoliating while cleaning. It just feels great, refreshing and satisfying. I'm addicted to these 'beauty bars'!

Sebastian Hydre Moisturising Shampoo and Conditioner
I won these in another competition, and was delighted to see they won the Judges Choice in the 2010 Australian Beauty Awards. I got really good results from these products and I'm sad I've finished them. However I won a range of hair products from this brand, so I can't wait to try out the others. I want to purchase the shampoo and conditioner because I was so happy with the results, but I've got a feeling they will be too expensive. Too scared to look it up!

Garnier Skin Naturals Pure Active Blackhead Clearing Scrub
I cannot sing the praises of this awesome scrub enough. It's my favourite scrub ever, and I've been through so many of them. It just feels so fabulous when I'm exfoliating with this, and afterwards my skin feels SO clean, deep down. I highly recommend you all try this scrub, if you haven't already.

Do you use any of these products?
