'My Husband Explains What Makeup Is' Tag!

This is my son, not my husband. Just so we're clear. LOL.

I first saw this intriguing tag on Pastel Sparkles blog under The Boyfriend Explains What Makeup Is, and thought it would be fun to interrogate my husband and see if he has been paying attention to me over the years. I'm pretty sure he ignores me 99% of the time, but he may fluke some of these just using common sense, and because, well when you've been on Earth as long as he has, you're sure to pick up some general knowledge on things outside your field. Baha! Sorry hubby, just kidding!

Now my husband is extremely camera-shy (I get it, I dislike having my photo taken too) so I've posted a photo of me with our eight year old son instead. Keep in mind this is our son, not my husband! The story behind this photo? I'm glad you asked. Mr 8 painted his face with my makeup, then when he went off to play in another room, I thought 'why the hell not?' and joined in, replicating his design on my own front-head. Of course, Mr 8 freaked out when he saw my face and we both laughed hysterically, because TWINSIES! I'm such a fun Mum, you guys! So you can basically look at my face and our son's face and do some backwards science in your brain and guess what hubby's face looks like. Backwards science, yay!

So the idea is I name a bunch of different makeup items and he has to guess what it is and what it does. Here we go!

BB Cream: "Big Boob Cream? Makes your boobs bigger? I have no idea." {Baha! Clearly!}

Primer: "Makes me think of primer and paint, so it's an undercoat? Put it on under your makeup." {Lucky guess. Also, you've never painted anything in your life}

Foundation: "Levels out all the bumps and lumps to make everything smooth." {Not really? That would have been a good answer for Primer though!}

Concealer: "I don't know how all these layers manage to do something through each other? It sounds like it conceals stuff. Hides blemishes or skin discolourations". {Disco!}

Powder: "Oh, FFS. I know from the movies it hides shine. Evens the skin tone?" {*commences Spanish Inquisition in regards to what movies he's been watching*}

Brow Gel: "What?!" (Incredulous). "For an eyebrow but is it trying to make the brow bigger or smaller? What's the trend right now? Like hair gel, so it makes the hair sleek!" (proud of himself). {eyebrows usually come in pairs}

Eyeshadow: "For the eyelids, to colour them in!" {Haha, that's one way to put it}

Eyeliner: "For the bit where the eyelashes are, at the top and bottom. It's normally black. Makes your eyes look better!" {yes, yes and yes!}

Mascara: "For the eyelashes, makes them blacker and stand out more" {*starts to question husband's sexuality*}

Corrector: You put it on pimples and blemishes? This is hard. Blends the colour of your makeup out?" {False alarm. He's straight.}

Contour: "Fuck me! Haha. I'm guessing it's like a shading thing to add a different definition to your face so it looks like you have definition where you don't." {That was surprisingly accurate}

Blusher: "To redden your cheeks!" {pretty much, give or take!}

Bronzer: "To make it look like you have a tan" {again, pretty much!}

Baking: "WHAT?!?! This makes me think of baking powder in cooking, which lifts things, so maybe its for saggy bits of skin?" {I don't think so, but your guess is as good as mine on this one!}

Strobing: "To bring contrast to the colours on your face, where it transitions from a light to a dark shade." {I am pretty sure you're bullshitting, but that is kinda sorta accurate, to a degree. Sort of.}

Highlighter: "A very light shade to hide shadowy parts of your face? Or maybe it's a bright yellow you apply to parts of your face you want to remember for later!" {I love this answer! He's referring to highlighter textas! Bahaha!}

Setting Spray: "Put it over the top to make sure all the makeup stays in place and is impervious to water"{how scientific}

Lipliner: "Same as eyeliner but on your lips. It makes the edges a continuous line" {boys are funny}

To be fair, I didn't know what baking and strobing were and legitimately had to fire up the google machine for answers. I mean I've heard of them, but I feel like things got batshit crazy after the highlighting and contouring crazes and refused to read about baking and strobing out of principle. LOL. Thanks to my husband for playing along. He now knows much more about makeup than he ever needed and/or wanted to!

The Love/Hate Tag

<3 <3 <3

Hi guys! I was tagged by the lovely Isaya from Remember Her to write a Love/Hate Tag post. You can check out her post here. I thought about writing purely beauty-related likes and dislikes, but thought a wider scope would be more interesting. If you're reading this, and would also like to write a Love/Hate post, consider yourself tagged!

The Tag is simply 'list 10 things that you love and 10 things that you hate (or dislike).'

TEN LOVES

  1. Unicorns, rainbows, ladybirds, puppies and kittens. Especially puppies and kittens playing together. Basically, anything cute!
  2. Drew Barrymore and Leonardo DiCaprio. If they ever star in a movie together, I will die. Then my ghost will see that movie five million times. (Poison Ivy doesn't count as Leo was only in it for three seconds tops).
  3. Conspiracy theories. From the plausible to the ridiculous, I love reading about them and find them intriguing and fascinating, even if I don't believe them.
  4. Being alone in peace and quiet. I love my own company. I think this in an introvert thing. I also love shopping and going to the movies by myself.
  5. Stationery. Pens, pencils and notebooks, oh my! I love writing in cute notebooks. I write a To Do list every single day, and feel so happy when I'm crossing stuff off!
  6. My favourite stores; Lush, Typo and Priceline. OMG, I can't even. I adore these stores and can't go to the shopping mall without visiting (and purchasing from) all three.
  7. My family. Obviously! I only have a tiny family, my husband, son and Dad, so they are all extra-precious to me. (This should probably have been number 1).
  8. Makeup and skincare. I think you knew that already.
  9. Candy Crush Saga. I'm hella addicted. I play it every night before bed to wind down. I'm up to Level 947, lol. I play Candy Crush Soda too, but Saga shits all over it.
  10. Winning competitions! I've been Comping for years. It's fun and there's nothing more exciting than getting a WPC (winning phone call), WEM (winning email) or just having prizes arrive at your home unexpectedly! My family appreciate the free trips we've taken and all the experiences we've had thanks to prizes I've won. And we hardly ever pay to go to the cinema!

TEN HATES
  1. Summer. How anyone enjoys sweating it out in the stinking hot Aussie Summer is beyond me. I like Winter a million times more.
  2. Being messy. I wish I was a neat freak. I dream of having a clutter-free home where everything is perfectly arranged and I'm totally organised. I am working on this, but de-cluttering is such a mammoth task I often get overwhelmed with it all.
  3. Relying on other people and being constantly let down by them. Story of my life.
  4. Small, enclosed spaces. Yeah, I get claustrophobic. FFS, don't watch the movie 'Buried' if you're claustrophobic. My recovery time was approximately three weeks.
  5. Spiders can get fucked.
  6. I hate the following foods (you'll notice most are vegetables); broccoli, cauliflower, spinach, brussels sprouts, asparagus, olives, anchovies, pickles, mushrooms, beans, oysters, salmon, tuna, beef jerky, duck and kangaroo meat. And I wonder why my son is fussy. LOL.
  7. Gardening. There ain't nothing fun about pulling out weeds or getting covered in dirt. Manual labour sucks!
  8. That my driving 'comfort zone' is so small (my suburb and the next two closest suburbs in our area), as it would be nice to be able to drive to more places. I'm such a scaredy-cat!
  9. The words 'placed' and 'treat'. 'I placed a dog treat on the ground'. No, no, no!
  10. Talking on my mobile phone. I can't stand talking on my mobile. I'll do everything but call someone from it and prefer to get calls on the home phone.

15 Facts About Me Instagram Tag!

So this is in fact an Instagram tag, but I thought I'd share it on my blog, because why not? I was tagged by Ingrid (@fabulousandfunlife) to share 15 Facts About Me so here they are!

1. Sometimes I exercise and eat KFC at the same time.

2. I once thought the hem of my pant leg was a hairy black spider that moved every time I did.

3. My greatest female role model and constant source of inspiration is Judge Judy.

4. I think pink flamingos are kind of awesome.

5. When I was at University I used the men's toilets for a week as a social experiment.

6. I've been bitten by a duck.

7. I once stole a slab of beer from a ski chalet balcony and attempted to ride it down the mountain with a group of boys I really shouldn't have been hanging out with.

8. I favourite my own tweets if I think they're really good.

9. One of my favourite things to do is crack eggs on my husband's head when he least expects it.

10. I've been out to dinner with a black shoe on one foot and a pink shoe on the other. I don't know how it happened but I spent the entire night mortified.

11. I'm very good at imagining the most morbid of situations and often have nightmares where I get murdered.

12. Whenever I'm down I just remember that I have as many Oscars as Leonardo DiCaprio and suddenly I'm happy again.

13. I've had exactly two jobs where I haven't understood what I was doing the entire time I worked there (and never said anything).

14. My strangest pet was a frog. I thought he would be less boring.

11 Facts and 11 Questions

It always scares the hell out of me to get personal, but I read this '11 Facts, 11 Questions' tag post on Suzanne's blog Don't They Know Who I Am? and I thought it would be fun. Besides, it's good to scare yourself every once in a while! I'm not tagging anyone, if you read this and want to do it too, that's great!

It simply involves revealing 11 Random Facts about yourself and answering 11 Set Questions. Here goes ....

11 RANDOM FACTS

1. I have no memories of my life before the age of 12 or 13, and even then I'm vague. For example, I only know I've had Birthday parties as a kid from the photos I've seen. I have the worst memory ever (except for song lyrics - see number 5).

2. I got blocked by actor Nick Frost (Hot Fuzz, Shaun of the Dead) on Twitter for telling him he had a surprisingly nice face. He sent me an insulting DM first, then blocked me. It was a big deal to me and I went on the hugest Twitter rant about it. He clearly can't take a joke.

3. I'm a massive Trekkie, and I've been to over 10 Star Trek conventions, the best being the 40th Anniversary convention in Las Vegas, where I met William Shatner and Leonard Nimoy!

4. I like to buy cookbooks then never cook any of the recipes in them. I'm horrible at sticking to recipes, and love throwing ingredients in the pan and seeing what happens!

5. When I was about 12 my best friend and I put on a stage production of Grease for our parents. Actually, it was just us in costume in her lounge room singing all the songs to our bemused folks. I was Danny Zuko. I still know every song by heart.

6. I once had some Absinthe in a restaurant in Mexico. Everything seemed quite 3D, and vividly colourful objects seemed to pop out at me, but I may have been imagining it.

7. The second toe on my left foot is shaped remarkably like ET: The Extraterrestrial.

8. I used to have a pet frog. I still like frogs, but I don't want another one as a pet.

9. My signature dish is Spaghetti Bolognaise. The sauce is made from scratch and I am super-skilled at it. Sometimes I believe it may be my Superpower. :)

10. I'm really fussy about public toilets when I'm out. I always try to get the end cubicle, and hate toilets with big gaps under and either side of the door, because I feel like people are looking in.

11. I hate wearing sneakers because my feet feel claustrophobic in them. For this reason, I always get shoes one size bigger than my actual feet.

11 QUESTIONS

1. What was your first beauty product you can remember?
I can't remember (see number 1 above) but going by photos it was probably some fetching blue eyeliner!

2. If you could choose how the world ends, what would you choose?
We were all just characters in an intricate computer game. The game crashes and the whole world and everyone in it vanishes. It cannot be restored. (I think I copied some of this from the Matrix movies).

3. What is your best organisational tip?
I'm the most disorganised person I know, however I do multitask by checking Instagram while I'm on the toilet.

4. If you were on death row, what would your last meal be?
Ravioli Ricotta with lots of creamy Carbonara Sauce and parmesan cheese, with a side of Potato Bake, Hungry Jacks Bacon Deluxe burger, some more crispy bacon by itself, potato chips, onion rings and a Pan Pepperoni Pizza (large). Then for dessert, I'd have a slice of Banana Caramel Pie, followed by a slice of Cheesecake, Pavlova, Chocolate Mud cake and Carrot Cake because you've got to be healthy (and that's got a vegetable in it).

5. Have you ever been on TV?
I fucking hope not!

6. What animal would you choose as your “totem animal”?
I tried to pick Unicorn, but apparently it's not a Totem Animal. :( So I'll go with Butterfly, because I'd love to fly, and I'm always striving for beauty.

7. If you could have sex with any superhero, who would you choose and why?
I'm glad you asked. A threeway with Iron Man and Batman, please. (Christian Bale version). I dare not elaborate, for fear of getting super-filthy.

8. Can you fake any accents?
Yes, I can do American, British, Indian and Asian. Badly.

9. What is the first thing you can remember of me (Don't They Know Who I Am?)?
Your hilarious, quirky tweets! (@HogSandwich).

10. Choose one sense and one sense only. That’s it for the rest of your life.
Sight, because I don't trust my ability to apply lipstick or watch a Leo movie without it.

11. Rollercoasters, yay or nay?
Oh hell no. Hell to the no.
