Oh my! I haven't written a Unicorn-themed post in ages! Of course this is a Wordless Wednesday, so there will be minimal text, and maximum photos. Basically, here's a bunch of unicorn stuff I bought recently and a couple of things from my existing collection!

Happy Birthday Haul!

My wonderful husband spoiled me with a surprise weekend trip to Brisbane for my Birthday last month and front row seats to Grease the musical! It was totally amazing and I had the best Birthday ever! We also checked out the Treasury Casino and did some shopping. I bought all this for myself, so it's my Happy Birthday Haul!

Above: OMG, I die! Could this unicorn be any cuter? I'm calling him Max (of course).

Above: I'm new to tea, so I thought an assorted pack would be a good starting point.

Above: I managed to pick three Lush soaps I haven't tried before. Sultana of Soap is creamy, luxurious and smells lovely (haven't tried the others yet).

Above: Seriously, I could buy everything in Typo. I had to have this gorgeous pencilcase!

Above: Finally got myself some Apocalips lip lacquers. Very annoyed at Priceline for sealing them with sticky-tape, which took AGES to get off, came off in tiny pieces and left the tubes damaged. I've even washed them in warm water to try removing the sticky residue, to no avail. Epic Fail, Priceline :(

Unicorn in Fairy Land

Unicorn in Fairy Land by Amy Sheridan from the Sheridan Story Art site, uses acrylic paint on canvas to capture a simple, yet gorgeous fantasy land. Lush rolling hills, a castle, colourful rainbow, fairies and of course, a unicorn with perfect pink hair. I've just noticed the rainbow doesn't have enough colours, but I really don't give a shit. The pink hooves more than make up for it.

Unicorn Tea Party!

I haven't posted a Unicorn in yonks, so here is Unicorn Tea Party. It's by the talented Eli Wolff of Eli Wolff Art.  Here we have a ginger unicorn about to devour what can only be described as a terrified cupcake.  I sure do like his sneakers.

Happy Mother's Day!

Happy Mother's Day to all the Mummies out there! I just scored socks (it's OK, I actually asked for them), a Mother's Day Scratchie Pack, a lovely sparkly flower card and 2 Pillow Pets!! Rainbow Unicorn and Magical Unicorn.  Apparently, "it's a Pillow! it's a Pet! it's a Pillow Pet!" LOL. I've accidentally put them in some kind of vague sexual position when setting up for the photo, please dismiss this, it was the best way to fit them in the frame. :oD

Unicorn Alert: The Last Unicorn

This gorgeous still is taken from a movie called The Last Unicorn. I can't believe I had never seen (or even heard of) this movie! How dare I have a Unicorn blog and be so ignorant! I love this image SO MUCH! Isn't it beautiful, with the blue colours, stunning Unicorn and sparkly stars? 

The Last Unicorn is an animated fantasy film from 1982, featuring the voices of Mia Farrow, Jeff Bridges and Angela Lansbury. Apparently, a brave unicorn and a magician fight an evil king who is obsessed with attempting to capture the world's unicorns. I'll leave you with the following quote......

Mythical Creatures Stamps, featuring the Unicorn!

In October 2011, Australia Post released a set of Mythical Creatures stamps as part of Stamp Collecting Month, comprising a fairy, troll, mermaid, griffin, unicorn and a dragon!

This stamp issue was illustrated by Brisbane-based artist Aaron Pocock.

From Australia Post, a little about each mythical creature:

Fairy
Excitable and contrary, fairies can be both malicious and good-hearted. Common in mythology, they can take on a number of guises.

Troll
This creature is often referred to as the ugliest of legendary beings. Grumpy, strong and not very clever, trolls originated in Scandinavia.

Mermaid
In Greek mythology the beautiful woman with the tail of a fish lures sailors to their deaths with her eerie song.

Griffin
This majestic being has the body of a lion and the wings and head of an eagle. It is very ancient, first appearing in art of the Bronze Age. The Griffin was often regarded as king of all creatures and responsible for guarding priceless treasure.

Unicorn
This horse-like creature with a spiralling horn projecting from its forehead was first mentioned by the ancient Greeks. In the Middle Ages it was believed that only a young girl could catch this wild and shy animal.

Dragon
This creature appears in the mythology of most cultures. In European legend it is usually a malevolent, fire-breathing monster with bat-like wings. It lives in a dark lair, like a cave.

I received a letter last week with an untouched (slack-arse Autralia Post!) Unicorn stamp. Here it is below......

Unicorn With Soul

This absolutely stunning picture is called 'Soul of a Unicorn' by Josephine Wall. This is quite similar to Lady Unicorn (also by Josephine Wall) which I blogged about here

Josephine explains Soul of A Unicorn:

"In a world filled with adversity the unicorn symbolises all that is pure, gentle and loyal. She travels to all corners of the earth, with blankets of flowers springing up wherever she treads. She helps those who are sick in body or mind with a touch of her healing horn. What a gorgeous way to look at things. There is so much happening in this painting, I could marvel at it for hours. It is intricate, delicate and beautiful.

Hopeful Rhino Unicorn

I'm sure there are times when we've all aspired to be like someone thinner than ourselves. Yeah, this is probably not going to happen anytime soon Hopeful Rhino. But bless your heart for trying!

Golden Unicorn

This gorgeous painting is Golden Unicorn by Sabra Scherer from the Epilogue website.  I love the detail in this intricate artwork. Gold acrylic paint was used for the flowing mane. This is the kind of piece that makes me sad I can't draw or basically do anything artistic. Love the colours used, especially the overall green hue. Aaaaaah. Unicorns.

Gay Pride Unicorn

Really not understanding this one. This image was used to accompany a story on Brazil upgrading a civil union to gay marriage. I'm all for gay rights and equality, I just don't get what a bearded sunglasses-wearing dude in a Star Trek uniform wearing a Pirate Hat riding a Unicorn with a multi-coloured rainbow thing with stars in the background has to do with that. Oh, hang on. I think it's just clicked. :)

Stoner Unicorn

Let me just start by saying Drugs Are Bad. Mmmmkay? And you shouldn't do them. Here's why. There's not an eye cream on earth that will get rid of those under eye bags! I think Stoner Unicorn may not have actually inhaled though, due to a notable absence of bloodshot eyes. Which I totally could have helped with, by the way (Red Eye Fix in my Beauty Tips post here). Also, who can apply blue eyeshadow and curl their hair that perfectly when they're stoned? I smell a fish! Oh, I think it's rat. I smell a rat!

Gaming Unicorn

OOPS! Oh well, at least they were having fun on the Wii ! So, who wins out of a Unicorn or a Dragon? My bet's on the Unicorn, because I can clearly see he's wearing his wrist strap. Safety first! That fucker is not flying off and smashing the TV, that's for sure.

Blonde Princess with Unicorn

This is a Wall Art Canvas, which would be perfect for a Nursery or a Girl's Bedroom. Whoops, probably shouldn't plagiarise the whole thing. I'm loving this light-hearted, cheerful piece, complete with castle, weird rainbow and butterflies. I wonder what the Princess has been up to, her cheeks are awfully rosy! :o)

Real Corn Unicorn

This is UniCorn by Munguia, based on Gustav´s Moreau the Unicorn. The woman kind of reminds me of a nude Marge Simpson. And the Unicorn literally has a Uni CORN. Fascinating stuff. I have no idea what it all means. Probably nothing. But it's fun to look at!

Neil Patrick Harris On A Unicorn!

This is from the Australian GameSpot website. Something about there being a video game equivalent of Neil Patrick Harris, if we lived in a perfect world. Not sure I understand this concept. Why would you want to play as NPH? But he's On A Unicorn and that's cool enough for me. Some enjoyable NPH films/TV are: Doogie Howser, M.D., How I Met Your Mother, Harold & Kumar Go to White Castle and an episode of Glee. The most interesting thing I've seen Neil do, is Dr. Horrible's Sing-Along Blog. It's a musical "tragicomedy miniseries" co-starring Nathan Fillion, involving a supervillian and his nemesis, written and directed by Joss Whedon in 2008, exclusively for internet distribution. Check it out if you haven't already, it's pretty weird! More information on that fantastically-titled production is here

Winged Unicorn

Love the simplicity of this one. The dark background colours allow the white wings to spread majestically. I wouldn't have minded a more pointy horn, it kind of looks like some's missing. It would be so cool to look up in the night sky and see a Unicorn flying past!

Trippy Unicorn

Oh My. This image just has everything. A Unicorn on drugs, lollipops, cupcakes, stars, love hearts and swirly rainbows. I am in Unicorn Heaven. He even has leg warmers on! BEST UNICORN EVER!


I've just edited this post to enlarge the picture, since this post is my most popular one ever. I'm really worried you're all Lawyers and I'm going to get sued :o/ (I'm not kidding, 70% of you come just to view Trippy Unicorn. LOL)

My Lady Unicorn

This amazing piece of art by Josephine Wall is called My Lady Unicorn. It's so detailed and intricate, truly a beautiful painting. I'm beginning to think I might get in trouble for posting some of this stuff. Don't tell anyone :o/

Unicorn With Bow
