Project 30 Pan

Oh hi! My plan was to bring you my July Favourites today, but since I have the flu, along with my son and husband, I just didn't have the energy to write a long review-style post. So instead, I had the bright idea to go through my beauty cupboard and check the expiry dates on everything and I'm so glad I did! A number of things had expired and a lot were close to expiring. And so this is a Project Pan, but mostly on skincare products. My goal is to use up as many of these babies as I can between now and the end of 2017. I'm a bit mortified that some things have already expired, but I've never been one to play it safe, so I will proceed with caution in using these products; if they cause a reaction I'll bin them. I do not suggest doing this yourself, you should always throw out your expired products, repeat, do not follow my reckless example. I may even give a couple of these Project Pan items away to family (not the expired ones, lol) if I feel like I won't use it.

I actually feel good that I know which products I should be concentrating on finishing, and that there is some type of plan in effect now. I'm listing these in order from the most expired to the least, and you'll see that the list includes a lot of stuff there was no expiry date on (these are marked unknown); if I feel that the 'unknowns' have been in the cupboard a fair time or it's something I really don't want to risk going bad before I use it, I've included it in my Project Pan.

Is your beauty cupboard an overflowing disaster area like mine, or are you organised?

  1. Good gosh I need to do something like this so bad. I usually do it around Spring time when I peruse the whole house for things to get rid of, mostly expired products. I feel like the LUSH shower gels don't really spoil even after their expiry date, I'm still using expired shower products for LUSH and don't find anything weird about them, but I do monitor them.

    1. Yes you're right, thankfully the Lush shower gels are totally fine. I found another couple after doing this post due to expire before the end of the year too, looks like I'll be being liberal with the shower gel for a few months!

  2. Seems like we have very similar mindsets at the moment!! I recently posted a bathroom cupboard declutter video and yesterday I just posted a Project Pan (makeup video)! So satisfying and so sad to waste skincare that expires :(. Glad to see your honest with skincare expiry dates! I'd be scared the trolls would shun you

  3. I'm pretty good at finishing up stuff, but I know full well that I've used expired products before & have at least a couple of them (namely a hand cream + the only mascara I own) in my stash. It's a case of monitoring usage & looking out for a reaction. I don't see any problem with using expired products, as long as you don't react to them. I'm still using that mascara, but only because I haven't got around to buying another one (lazy I know)...I will be soon though!

    1. Yes I will definitely be careful and look out for the slightest reaction. I'm even thinking of binning that first face mask, February expiry might be pushing it lol.

  4. I've just emptied one of my cupboards of expired products too! I've taken a less reckless approach however (lol) and binned them all! I'm too scared to use them and have my face or body break out! Plus I have other products I'm wanting to use before they expire too! #firstworldbeautybloggerproblems

  5. Great idea, Di. It's a wonderful way of keeping track of beauty products and at least now you'll get some serious use out of them xx

  6. Such good products you have and it is a great idea to have them sorted out and use the one's which still have some time before they also get expired.

  12. Its so important to do a massive clear out. I tend to avoid it because I think I'll use it soon, but never do. You've inspired me to go through my cupboards and do a massive clear out x

  13. I'm so guilty of doing the same! I only have one face and have so many products to test out.. it makes it hard to finish anything. I'm working hard on trying to finish things up and trying to use the oldest ones first. I also use them if expired, too! hehe

  16. I feel your pain and share your dilemma Di lol! I have drawers I'm not even game to go through because they're full of wondrous stuff that's been there for AGES and it's gonna break my heart to toss them. Honestly I think a lot of us gals are in the same boat, especially bloggers. How wonderful it is to have all these goodies, but it's a battle to get through everything within the time frames - good luck hon, you have some stunners in this list xxx

    1. Thanks lovely! It's at least nice to know that others, beauty bloggers in particular, are going through the same thing! There were many more products in the stash as well, this was just the most urgent to use up ones. I'm so glad I went through everything though! xxx

  17. 7th Heaven masks have a shelf life of 3 years, so hopefully should be oK, If you wish to check the expiry date please reply back with the batch code which is embossed on the side of the sachet. Kind regards 7th Heaven

    1. I had to Google because mine doesn't say 7th Heaven on it, but it appears you and MJ are the same brand or they own you? Confusing branding! Thanks for the comment :)
