Due Date

Starring: Robert Downey Jr, Zach Galifianakis
Genre: Comedy

Robert Downey Jr and Zach Galifianakis play the odd couple in this mediocre road trip comedy. Peter Highman (Downey Jr) is an uptight, straightlaced businessman, attempting to make it home in time for the birth of his first child. Ethan Tremblay (Galifianakis) is the childish, irresponsible, carefree aspiring actor, pretty much there to thwart Peter's journey.

This is a modern-day 'Planes, Trains & Automobiles', with not quite enough funny moments to truly satisfy. However, it tries and is endearing on a certain level. With support from Jamie Foxx, Juliette Lewis, Michelle Monaghan and Danny McBride, it's a crack-up in parts and so-so in others. There's also a cameo from Director Todd Phillips (The Hangover, Starsky & Hutch) as Barry, drug dealer Juliette Lewis' boarder/lover, and the dudes from TV show 'Two and a Half Men' also make an appearance at the end. I LOLed when Peter and Ethan's bags are switched at the airport and drug paraphenalia is found in Peter's luggage. "They're not mine. I've never done drugs in my life!" Downey Jr exclaims. Now that's hilarious!

  1. Do you think the line "never done drugs..." was one of those "in jokes", put in there to make us laugh? Worked then.
