Amanda Seyfried

Love this photo of Amanda Seyfried (from Letters To Juliet, Mamma Mia, TV's Veronica Mars) in a dog costume! She was dressed up for Kate Hudson's Halloween Party in Los Angeles last year.

Here's Amanda during her photo shoot to promote Letters To Juliet in the June Issue of Teen Vogue.

And here she is out and about sans makeup.

Anne Hathaway

I've decided to do a Hot Mess section on my blog ('You Call That Fashion?'). This will feature celebrities wearing really horrible or badly put together outfits. All in my opinion, of course. You may love it. I'm not a complete bitch, because I will also be doing a section with celebrities in fantastic outfits and clothes I think look great. Just to even it up :o) I will add to these sections as I come across things. Obviously.

First up: Anne Hathaway in a revolting cropped jumper, with interesting pants. See how nice I'm being? Enjoy.

Waterfall Unicorn

Where would my Max The Unicorn blog be without some Unicorns? So each week, I will add a new Unicorn. I call this one "Waterfall Unicorn". I used all of my imagination to come up with that! Enjoy the tranquility, beauty and H2O involved in this picture :o)

Carmex Lip Balm Jar

rrp 6.95

This is a great lip balm because it's so versatile. Apparently it's a cult favourite! There's a tingly sensation on application, and the formula is very moisturising. It's a great treatment for chapped or dry lips, but because it goes on clear and with a slight gloss, you can also use it over lippy to give your lips a nice sheen. The little pot is ideal for popping in your handbag, or even for travelling.

I re-apply this often throughout the day, and it's really helped to heal my chapped lips. Another plus is it's quite inexpensive. YAY! Carmex contains "camphor and menthol in a base of cocoa butter and waxes" and it also has salicylic acid which provides gentle exfoliation. A great all-round balm that men can use too (the Original version, anyway!). It also comes in Cherry, which I have yet to try.

Max Factor Age Renew Foundation

rrp $36.50

This is a truly lovely foundation. I was a little wary of paying $36 at first, but I dont regret it at all. It has lasted me nearly a year, and the pump action packaging means it's not exposed to air, so it doesn't dry out. The consistency is almost like a whipped mousse, light and fluffy. It's an anti-ageing foundation so it's great if you're over 30, as it smooths the appearance of fine lines, illuminates your skin and disguises dark shadows. It claims to make you look five years younger and I think it lives up to this claim. Age Renew foundation won a Beauty Heaven Glosscars Award in 2008, so I guess it's not just popular with me!

My only slight gripe would be that my shade, Creamy Ivory, is slightly darker than I'm used to. My shade in foundation and concealer is always Ivory or Light (the lightest shade available) and this is a bit darker than that shade normally is. But, as it turns out, it doesn't look weird or too dark on me, it just makes my complexion appear more natural, instead of really pale!

Ricky Gervais

Just wanted to post this because it makes me smile. It's Ricky Gervais wearing Ellen's underwear (from her Twitter). He's been in the news a bit lately, after some of America took offence to his Golden Globes gags. Personally, I thought he was hilarious. Learn to take a joke, (some people in) America!

Benefit That Gal

rrp $53

This is the first primer I ever tried. It's a lovely pink colour and acts to smooth out and brighten you skin tone, prior to makeup application. It's pretty good. However, if you use too much, it's hard to apply your foundation over the top without that horrible rubbing-off effect. I'm sure that was just me learning how to use Primer though, as it does take some getting used to. If you don't put too much on, it's great. Benefit say this is suitable for all skin tones, and as always with Benefit, the packaging is girly and pretty. If you've never used Primer before, this is a great one to start with.

Benefit Sugarbomb

rrp $51

This is a blush consisting of four different pretty shades that you swirl together with your blush brush, then apply. It's not terribly pigmented, so you can't really go overboard with the colour. Great for a subtle effect. It's also quite shimmery when applied.

I could go either way with this product. It's average to me. I won one a while ago and I've been using it on and off. On the plus side, it does last a fair while. When it runs out, I probably won't get another one. There's nothing wrong with it, I just don't LOVE it.

Benefit Lip Plump

rrp $39

Did not really like this product. I saw bugger all plumping action and it leaves your lips an awful colour so you're limited as to what lipstick colours you can use over the top. It did smooth out the surface of my lips, but I really got it hoping for plumper lips, not smoother lips. 90% of this product is still in the tube and I'm kind of glad I got it off eBay at a fraction of the full cost! Most other lip plumpers I've tried performed better than this one.

Benefit Ooh La Lift

rrp $39

This is fantastic for dark under eye circles. It claims to give an "instant under-eye brightening boost" and it really does. I use this daily (after my moisturiser and before my makeup) and it's truly awesome. I have tried a LOT of creams that claim to remove dark circles and this is one of the best. A tip though - it does dry on application pretty quickly, so I've found it's best to do one eye, then put your concealer or foundation under that eye straight away. Then repeat the process on the other eye.

I was introduced to Ooh La Lift when a $6 womens mag had it as a freebie with purchase. After using it, I seriously regretted not buying more mags (I think it was Grazia) just for the product! But as always, you can buy this off eBay for a lot cheaper than the full rrp.
