Mecca Beauty Loop Box: Level 1

Hi guys! Recently I was shocked to learn I qualified for a Level 1 Mecca Beauty Loop Box. I had a quite long gap of not buying anything at all from Mecca, partly because I just didn't want anything, and partly because I was swayed by all the shit-talk about Mecca and their exorbitant pricing on the Australian Makeup (and possibly also the Aus Skincare) subs on Reddit. But during my Melbourne trip I bought a few things and this must be why I received the email saying I had a Level 1 box to pick up.

Here's what I got in the Level 1 Mecca Beauty Loop Box:

~  Glow Recipe Cloudberry Essence Toner
~ Patchology Serve Chilled Rose Sheet Mask
~ Lanolips x Messina 101 Ointment Multi-Balm Dulce de Leche Gelato
~ Charlotte Tilbury Charlotte's Magic Serum Crystal Elixir

Not gonna lie, I'm very happy with this selection of samples! Firstly, I've never tried Glow Recipe before, so I finally get to with this 5ml toner sample. Although the Charlotte Tilbury sample is tiny (and in a sachet, so I'll have to use it in one go), it's still a brand I'd never buy myself, so I'm happy to be able to try it. The Patchology mask is intriguing, especially since you're meant to store it in the fridge and apply it cold. Maybe I'll wait until Winter is over for this one! And lastly, the Lanolips lip balm, which is a collab with Messina! Being a foodie, I'm excited to try the dulce de leche gelato inspired creation. It smells amazing!

What a great little box of goodies!

Priceline Skincare GWP Bag + Haul

Hi guys! I couldn't resist the latest Priceline Skincare Gift With Purchase (GWP) Bag, mostly because it looked quite good, but also because I needed to pick up some new skincare bits and pieces anyway, so what better time than when it's on special and comes with a bunch of freebies!

Here's what I bought for my qualifying purchase:

~ Skin Physics Dragon's Blood Ultra Plumping Night Cream (50ml)
~ Olay Ultimate Eye Cream (15ml)
~ Olay Regenerist Detoxifying Pore Scrub Cleanser (150ml)
~ Bioderma Sensibio H2O Micellar Water Cleanser (500ml)
~ La Roche-Posay Effaclar Purifying Foaming Gel (15ml) (Freebie provided with my order)

Thoughts!

First of all, I'm disappointed with the Olay Ultimate Eye Cream. I specifically wanted something hydrating for under my eyes, but this is too drying and provides almost a mattifying finish meaning applying makeup over the top is difficult. You want concealer to glide and blend not get stuck because of a dry base! I haven't tried the Olay Pore Scrub Cleanser yet, so hopefully that redeems the Olay brand for me!

I'm enjoying the Skin Physics Dragon's Blood Ultra Plumping Night Cream. I got this because I use to use it years ago and loved it, but it's too expensive to buy on the regular so I kind of forgot about it. But I think it was 40% off so I snapped up a jar!

The Bioderma Sensibio Micellar Water is probably my favourite micellar water ever. I get the sensitive skin one with the pink lid and it never irritates my eyes when removing eye makeup. I love this, but only get it when it's on special, otherwise I use my trusty Garnier Micellar Water wipes.

Another thing I'm loving is the La Roche-Posay Effaclar Purifying Foaming Gel which was included free in my order. I'm really impressed with this and may even purchase it in the future.

Now let's look at the contents of the free GWP Bag!

~ Dr Lewinn's Ultra R4 Collagen Surge Plumping Gel (30g)
~ Sukin Skin Relief Body Wash (50ml)
~ Clear Skincare Gel Cleanser (125ml)
~ Olay Regenerist Retinol 24 Night Moisturiser (8g)
~ AHC Essential Real Eye Cream For Face (10ml)
~ Skin Physics Vitamin C Hydrating Velvet Mask (1 mask)
~ La Roche-Posay Effaclar Duo +M Triple Corrective Care (15ml)
~ Dr PawPaw Lip Balm (8ml)
~ Embryolisse Multi-Function Nourishing Moisturiser (5ml)
~ Bioderma Sensibio Defensive Serum (4ml)
~ CeraVe Facial Moisturising Lotion (3ml)
~ Epzen AHA Exfoliating Body Wash (sachet)
~ Cancer Council Hydrating Serum SPF50+ (sachet)
~ Frank Body Every Day Hydrating Face Wash (sachet)
~ Avene Hydrance Boost Concentrated Hydrating Serum (sachet)
~ and of course, the bag itself!

Thoughts!

Firstly, the navy blue bag with gold zips and purple inner lining is really lovely and a great size for travel, I'm loving it! I'm also really happy with the full size Collagen Surge Plumping Gel from Dr Lewinn's as I was considering this for my qualifying spend. It consists of little pink pearls (which may be a gimmick but I find it fun!). I haven't tried anything from Clear before so I'm keen to try the gel cleanser. Sukin I don't really like as a brand, but at least it's just a body wash and not a facial product. I'm also interested in the Olay night moisturiser with retinol, let's see how I go with that. I'm always happy to try anything from Bioderma and La Roche-Posay as they are two brands I love. CeraVe and Embryolisse are two brands I haven't tried before, so that will be a new experience. The Dr PawPaw Lip Balm I will probably give to my son as I won a huge Carmex lip balm pack and I honestly have enough lip balms to last me for years. All the sachets are great for single use, one use and done. And in a very happy coincidence, included is an AHC Essential Real Eye Cream For Face which I got in the Amazon Advent Beauty Calendar and absolutely adore! I was looking to buy another one and now I don't have to. Yay!

Overall, this was definitely worth getting for me, and I'm so glad I did!

Bath & Body Works Haul!

Hi guys! I thought I'd show you my haul from Bath & Body Works. This was from the Black Friday Sale towards the end of last year. I believe it was a buy one get one free deal across all products, or something similar, because I know it came to roughly half what the full cost would have been. I know it's taken me a while to get this post up, but the silver lining is I've been using the products in the meantime, so I've got some thoughts to share instead of just a look at the products. This was my first real foray into Bath & Body Works. Sure, I've looked in the store before, but I hadn't bought anything.

What I bought:

~ Iced Sugar Plum Ultimate Hydration Body Cream
~ Frosted Coconut Snowball Ultimate Hydration Body Cream
~ Strawberry Snowflakes Fine Fragrance Mist
~ At The Beach Fine Fragrance Mist
~ Winterberry Wonder Shower Gel
~ Merry Cookie Scented Candle

The Body Creams are absolutely amazing! I'm seriously in love with both of these fragrances, in particular the Iced Sugar Plum one. As part of my night time routine I put one of these on right before bed and it's so delightful to hop into bed smelling like an absolute snack! They both contain shea butter and hyaluronic acid and they just melt in wonderfully and absorb quickly leaving my skin soft and nourished. I was worried about buying body moisturiser because I never use it, but the scents are so beautiful that I look forward to applying this every night.

The two Fragrance Mists are nice, but I have to remind myself to use them, as I'm deep in my habit of reaching for my YSL Parisienne perfume if I'm on the way out. I guess I could try using these around the house? The bottles are very big and I think they will last me a long time (especially if I keep not using them lol). The Strawberry Snowflakes Mist is fruity and feminine, whereas At The Beach is fresh, crisp and salty. They are both lovely and I really need to find a way to incorporate them into my daily routine.

I'm absolutely addicted to shower gel, so I was excited to try the Winterberry Wonder Shower Gel. It lathers up well (and thus takes a fair while to rinse off) and smells nice, but it's not as strong as I'd like. I am a little disappointed with it to be honest, and much prefer all the Lush shower gels I bought in the Boxing Day Sale (you can read about that haul here). I put Winterberry aside when my Lush haul arrived (plus what I bought instore) and I've so far finished off a Lush Happy Hippy, The Olive Branch and Dirty Springwash shower gel bottles. I'm now using Lush Snow Fairy, but I need to alternate it with B&BW Winterberry so it doesn't go to waste.

The Merry Cookie Candle is honestly one of the best candle fragrances I've ever smelt, and as such, I'm too scared to use it! I haven't started burning it yet and not sure if I will. Every few days I open the lid and inhale the amazing goodness and just revel in how delicious it smells. I will definitely be grabbing more candles in this year's Black Friday sale, because Merry Cookie is just a joy and I want more!

That's my Haul! Hope you enjoyed reading and have a wonderful week!

Product Reveal: Amazon Beauty Advent Calendar!

Hi guys! So I finally got around to photographing the contents of last December's Amazon Beauty Advent Calendar (there's been a lot happening) which means I can now actually use the products. Woo hoo! This was a really fun advent calendar comprising 24 windows to open. I'm quite happy with the varied beauty products although I can't speak to value as it was a Christmas gift, so I don't know what it cost. Let's have a look at the contents!

~ Maybelline SuperStay Matte Ink in Seductress (mini size)
~ Essie nail polish in Ballet Slippers (5ml)
~ OPI nail lacquer in Esmalte de Unas Nagellack (3.75ml)

There are more than 24 items, because some windows contained multiple products. Which is good considering some of them are mini size! But there are also a few full sized products. Overall I'm really happy with these products as there are some favourites (hello Bioderma Sensibio Micellar Water!), some familiar products I enjoy sometimes and a lot of new-to-me products that I'll enjoy trying out.

Review: Earth:en 4 Step Normal to Combination Skin Routine

Hi guys! Recently I was gifted the Earth:en 4-Step Normal to Combination Skin Routine to trial and review on their website, so I thought I'd also post it here in case anyone is interested in the products. I liked these products except for the moisturiser, which unfortunately was a fail for me. Read on for my thoughts!

The Earth:en 4-Step Normal to Combination Skin Routine contains four products; Passionfruit & Pineapple Cleansing Gel - Lychee, Lemon & Finger Lime Refreshing Mist - Mangosteen & Quandong Antioxidant Serum - Papaya & Finger Lime Balancing Moisturiser. First of all, I love the packaging of this skincare range. The white design is simple, clean and elegant and the wooden accents give the products an earthy, modern aesthetic. These products look stylish sitting on my bathroom shelf and beauty table.

The Passionfruit & Pineapple Cleansing Gel uses a pump dispenser, which I really like. The gel itself is clear, with a yellow tinge. I'm enjoying the passionfruit and pineapple fragrance, as I'm a big fan of fruity aromas. I get a nice, gentle cleanse from this, and it leaves my skin feeling clean and fresh, nourished but not dry. I'm also enjoying the gel consistency, as I prefer that texture cleanser over foams, creams and oils.

The Lychee, Lemon & Finger Lime Mist was a refreshing delight when spritzed on the face, especially perfect on a hot Summer's day! I even used this on my arms and chest, and it was effective at cooling me down whilst providing a lovely natural fruity scent to inhale. I used this as a first step in my skincare and makeup routine, as it sinks in nicely and leaves my skin feeling fresh and boosted with a hit of moisture.

The Mangosteen & Quandong Serum has a mid-level consistency and is an off-white coloured serum. The smell to me is herby, earthy and quite strong, but pleasant. This, along with the Mist, are my favourite products from the 4 Step Routine. The serum is lightweight and feels nice and luxurious when applied. It absorbs quite quickly. Although I do like the dropper for dispensing the product, that fact that it's white instead of clear means you can't see how much product you've pulled into the dropper. Results-wise, my skintone looks more even after use, but I'm not noticing any other benefits. However if you're after just a really lovely Aussie serum, you can't go wrong with this one.

The Papaya & Finger Lime Moisturiser is the only product in the line I didn't really enjoy. It has a light, fruity fragrance similar to the other products in the range. It's a lightweight cream, but unfortunately it just didn't want to absorb into my face. I thought it didn't sit well with the mist and serum (even though these products are in a 4 step system and thus designed to work together) so I tried it on my arm that had no underlying products and it still took a very long time to absorb into my skin. It also somewhat separated when I was attempting to rub it in, which wasn't ideal. Even though I'd give the moisturiser a miss, I did enjoy the other Earth:en products in the Normal to Combination Skin Routine line.

Disclaimer: I received these products from Earth:en to review.

February Empties

Hi guys. I thought I'd write an Empties post as I haven't in a long time. Here's every beauty product I finished last month...

Colab Dry Shampoo Extreme Volume
I adore this stuff and will continue to purchase. I already have multiple back-ups in the cupboard as I can't be without it.

Rexona Clinical Protection Shower Clean AntiPerspirant Deodorant
I buy these when they are on special at the supermarket. Although more expensive, I find this deodorant is more effective than most others I've tried.

Nature's Way Collagen Gummies
I've stopped using these as I think they are useless and have yet to see them make a difference.

Antipodes Hosanna H2O Intensive Skin Plumping Serum
I used to love this but my interest and use has waned, meaning this bottle has gone off so I'm binning it. Will not re-purchase.

The Body Shop Pink Grapefruit Shower Gel
I love the refreshing scent of this and really enjoyed using it but have plenty of other shower gels, mousses, soaps, etc to use up.

Boost Lab 2D Hyaluronic Hydro Boost Serum
Love love love this stuff and will continue to purchase it. Already have my next bottle which I've blogged about in this Boost Lab Serum Haul post.

Models Prefer Eye Brightener Light Diffusing Concealer
I enjoy using this under my eyes, mixed with some argan oil concealer as it can be a bit drying, but the argan oil moistens things up making it easy to blend without creasing. I already have a back-up on the go.

Maybelline Masterliner in Black
I will forever buy this, my holy grail eyeliner. I routinely buy them on special and have up to five back-ups on hand, haha.

Revlon Colorstay Skin Awaken 5-in-1 Concealer
I find this works best under my eyes as a first step after I've applied my eye cream. Love it and will continue to buy.

3 x Garnier Micellar Cleansing Wipes (Sensitive Skin)
I swear by the 3 pack of these, they're so effective and comforting to me. I've already replaced.

L'Oreal Revitalift Filler Deep Replumping Anti-Ageing Day Cream
I'm up in the air about whether to re-purchase as I can only use it before bed. This is effective and feels lovely but pills up badly meaning I can't use it under makeup.

L'Oreal Age Perfect Collagen Tightening Day Cream
I'm now firmly addicted to this cream and already on my third jar. Check out my review of it here. I'll definitely continue to buy it.

Boost Lab Serum Haul!

Hi guys! I'm coming at you today with my Boost Lab Serum Haul. Actually it's just three serums, but that still counts, right? I bought these directly from the Boost Lab website. I am deeply in love this brand, so was thrilled to see the 'Shop Bundles & Save' section. My goal was to replace my empty Boost Lab 2D Hyaluronic Hydro Boost Serum with another one, and possibly pick up their Multi Peptide Anti-Ageing Serum, which I'd be eyeing off, but things didn't go according to plan. Read on to find out why!

First of all, can I say what a huge mistake I made buying the Skin Physics Polyglutamic Intensive Hydration Serum to replace my beloved Boost Lab Hydro Boost Serum, just because it was on special at Priceline for basically half the price of the Boost Lab hydrating serum. It has issues, eg it pills up under every product, and just doesn't come close to the Boost Lab one. I can only use it in my nightly skincare routine (before bed), when the pilling is annoying but doesn't matter as much. Regrets, I have a few!

So back to my Boost Lab haul! I knew I wanted a new Hydro Boost Serum, and thought the Shop Bundles & Save section would be the perfect opportunity to try more of their serum range. They normally retail for $29.95 each, but the bundles I was looking at contained three assorted serums and were $62.90. This is a great deal since two serums alone is around $60. Plus they have free shipping on orders over $50 and all orders included a free gift. {edit - I didn't get the free gift with my order, so I emailed them about this}. {Updated Edit - apparently if you have pop-ups disabled you won't see the free gift offer pop up to add to cart which is what must have happened. BL were lovely over email and are sending me the free gift}. And I had a code for $10 off for a first time order. Winning! The only problem was there was no bundle that contained both the Hydro Boost and the Multi-Peptide Anti-Ageing Serums! So I had to settle for another of the bundles. I'll try the Anti-Ageing Serum eventually!

Here's what I got....

2D Hyaluronic Hydro Boost Serum
This serum claims to intensely hydrate, plump the skin and restore the skin's barrier. It contains two forms of bio-hyaluronic acid and pro-vit B5. I love love love this serum! It feels amazing, is really hydrating and is such a great base under moisturiser and makeup, as it doesn't pill up at all. I'd highly recommend trying this if you have dry skin, love the look and feel of plumped up skin or just want a really good hydrating serum.

Vitamin C Brightening Serum
This serum claims to brighten and firm, even out the skin tone and clear dark spots. It contains multi-vitamins (Vit C, B3 and Vit E), Pentavitin and natural Bisabolol. I'm interested to see how I go with this, because the last brightening serum I tried made me break out. You can read all about my experience with the Garnier Skin Active Vitamin C Brightening Serum here.

Retinol Night Renewal Serum
This serum claims to intensely hydrate, plump and firm the skin and total rejuvenation.  It contains retinol, sea fennel extract, Bisabolol and aloe vera juice. I'm keen to see the results of this and I'm hoping it feels lovely to apply, just like the Hydro Boost Serum.

I'm so happy with this haul! Keep an eye on my Instagram Stories @shinyglitterbug where I'll no doubt post what I think after trying them!

REVIEW: Garnier Vitamin C Brightening Serum

Hi guys! Recently I was sent a new Garnier serum to trial, so I thought I'd share my thoughts about it. I wasn't obligated to post on my blog, but since I'd already formulated my opinion (and my readers are predominantly beauty lovers) I thought it would be a good idea.

Product Claims:
~ Immediately after use skin looks healthier and more radiant
~ From 6 days, skin appears brighter, more even and the density of dark spots appear reduced
~ From 8 weeks, dark spots (including acne marks) appear reduced by -43%
~ Designed to suit all skin types and tones, and is dermatologically tested
~ Vegan formula & approved by Cruelty Free International

Garnier Vitamin C Brightening Serum contains 3.5% Vitamin C + Niacinamide + Salicylic Acid. It also contains Lemon Extract, a powerful superfood known for its brightening properties. The size of this bottle is 30ml.

The Garnier Skin Active Vitamin C Brightening Serum was a mixed bag for me! I really enjoyed the texture and consistency of the serum and how it felt as I applied it. The fragrance was lovely and it absorbed into my skin pretty quickly. During this time my skin was tacky, so I did have to wait before I continued on with my skincare routine, and you definitely need a moisturiser between this and your makeup. It does, however, sit well under moisturiser and makeup, as I didn't experience any pilling of the product. This serum did brighten my complexion, however it also caused my skin to break out, something it hasn't done in years. Even though I only got three small pimples, this was three more than I wanted. So that was disappointing. I don't have any dark spots, so I can't say whether or not this serum worked in that aspect. My skin also dried out after a few days using this serum. Overall, I like the brightening effect and it's a pleasant serum to use, but it's not suitable for me due to the breakouts and dryness it caused.

In summary, I wouldn't recommend this serum and now that I've trialled it, I'll stop using it and go back to my tried and true skincare routine. But keep in mind, even though this particular serum didn't work for me, it still may work for you!

FreezeFrame Haul!

Hi guys! It's the first day of Term 1 for my son, so here I am trying to change from carefree holiday mode back to school routine mode. I definitely feel better when I'm organised though, so having structure in my day will do me good. I've been making an effort to fill out my Diary, get on top of my emails and declutter the house, so I'm feeling positive. I don't mind being busy, but I'm fast approaching my collab limit for how many I can take on at once before I get overwhelmed. Going on a short getaway has me enjoying the relaxed life a bit too much and now I have to snap out of it!

Today's post features my recent FreezeFrame haul. I'm a huge fan of Freezeframe, because they make products that address the exact skincare concerns I have, and they work so damn well. They also have some amazing sales from time to time, one of which I took advantage of to purchase this latest round of goodies. This should keep me going for quite some time hopefully! Let's take a look at the products.

Revitaleyes

This is my favourite ever Freezeframe product. It's a multitasking gel that improves deep wrinkles, chronic puffiness and serious dark circles. I have all three of these, so to have found a product that addresses all my issues (instead of having to use three separate creams) and leaves my under eye area looking its best ever... well it's a massive gamechanger. I wrote about my desire to keep using Revitaleyes in my 2022 Beauty Goals post, and I certainly have. I would highly recommend this product to anyone looking to improve wrinkles, eyebags or dark circles. For this purchase it was a bundle deal of Revitaleyes + Eyelid Lift and you could purchase any additional product at 50% off, so naturally I bought another Revitaleyes.

Eyelid Lift

So this is a 'new to me' Freezeframe product that there's been a lot of hype about on social media. I was quite excited when I saw the bundle deal of this plus Revitaleyes, and thought it was the perfect time to try it. I don't really have hooded or droopy lids per se, but I guess things can always be improved and I'd like to see if a bit of an eyelid lift makes a difference. I haven't tried this yet, but I'm hoping it opens up my eyes a bit and makes me look more awake!

Wrinkle Block

This is my second tube of Wrinkle Block, and honestly, it lasts forever. I've had my first one so long most of the label has rubbed off and I still haven't finished it. Maybe I should start using it all over my face to use it up quicker, as currently I only use it under my eyes, and not even every day. It's really good though, if you're looking to improve fine lines, moderate and even deep wrinkles. It also works really well under makeup, providing a nice hydrated base on which to apply concealer or corrector. Also, this was a free Gift With Purchase for the first 200 orders. Score!

Glow Getter

I'm happy to try any Freezeframe product I haven't tried before, so I'm looking forward to using this Glow Getter sample, even though it is quite tiny! I've just tried finding more information about this on their website, including using the search function and nothing comes up, so I don't know if this has been discontinued or is just out of stock. From the tube packaging though, it's a sleeping mask with deep sea repair for deep wrinkles, firming and luminosity.

Pumpkin did not give a stuff about my attempted photoshoot! Luckily this one was just for Stories, haha. I hope you enjoyed my haul!

Holiday Empties

Hi guys! Last week we went to Victor Harbor for a short holiday, staying at a Country Club where we relaxed and played golf. It was amazing to get away during the school holidays, especially since our air conditioning at home died and it's been stifling in the house during this super hot Summer weather. It looks like it won't be fixed for another few weeks too, because they have to ship parts in and it's not an easy fix. Swear words! Edit - it now looks like the best solution is to completely replace the air conditioning unit which will be $9000+. Fantastic!

Anyway, I decided to take a few mini-sized products I've been wanting to use up on the trip with me (along with some bigger products). It's part of my never-ending efforts to declutter the house (and my beauty collection). Here are the ones I managed to finish up whilst away, and my brief thoughts on them.

Lancome Tonique Confort Rehydrating Comforting Toner
I love the slightly jelly consistency of this pink rehydrating toner and really enjoyed using it. This came in a Lancome Gift With Purchase. The perfect size product to take away on holiday.

Kiehl's Retinol Skin Renewing Daily Micro Dose Serum
This felt really nice upon application and seems more gentle than other retinol serums. There was no initial stinging effect and my skin looked really good the next morning.

The Body Shop Moringa Body Butter
I adore this scent and it lasts for ages on the skin. A lovely texture that absorbs well and is non-greasy. I really want to try more fragrances from The Body Shop Body Butter range.

Kiehl's Calendula Serum-Infused Water Cream
I love this stuff, from the smell of it to the gorgeous light texture, it feels lovely going on and leaves my skin hydrated and supple to the touch.

La Roche-Posay Anthelios 50+ SPF Lightweight Sunscreen
This tiny little mini was very runny but seemed to work. It's fragrance free and has a non-shiny finish.

Revlon Colorstay Skin Awaken 5-In-1 Concealer
I love this concealer for under my eyes and have already replaced it with another tube. The formula has caffeine and Vitamin C and really helps cover my dark under eye circles. I love it.

So it may not be that many, but I'm happy with what I could finish. It makes it easier to sift through everything, see what I've got and what I want to concentrate on using up next. Do you use any of these products?

Review: L'Oreal Age Perfect Collagen Tightening Day Cream

Hi guys! Today I've decided to review a moisturiser I use nearly every day, L'Oreal Age Perfect Collagen Tightening Day Cream. When I first started using this, I actually didn't like it, so I'm glad I persevered as I'm now halfway through my second jar, and I'm really loving it. Isn't it strange how our views on a product can do a complete 180?! Read on for my thoughts!

At first, this cream felt way too thick and rich for me and I really couldn't get used to it. It also used to ball up under my makeup (to the point where I switched to using it as a night moisturiser before bed), but I don't know what the hell I was doing wrong, as I now don't have this problem at all. Weird. And now I adore the luxurious, thick texture. It actually applies like a dream, melting into the skin like butter.

The absorption rate is fast, because sometimes I go straight from applying this Day Cream (as a last step after my eye serum and cream) to applying concealer under my eyes, then foundation without any waiting time, and there's no issues with pilling. Maybe I was applying too much in the beginning? I don't know.

I'm a person who favours having multiple moisturisers on the go simultaneously, but this Age Perfect one is the jar I reach for the most. I also sometimes use L'Oreal Revitalift Laser x 3 Intensive Anti-Ageing Moisturiser (which is quite good), L'Oreal Revitalift Filler + Hyaluronic Acid Deep Replumping Anti-Ageing Day Cream (which pills like a motherfucker, so I can only use it at night) and Olay Regenerist Micro-Sculpting UV Cream Moisturiser SPF 30 Broad Spectrum (which I use the day after using my retinol serum because of the SPF).

Anyway, the Age Perfect Collagen Tightening Cream really leaves my skin feeling soft, nourished, hydrated, plumped up and tighter. I'm impressed with the results and feel it does a particularly good job of improving my eye contour, where I need the most help. If you have fine lines, sagging skin, hollowness around the eyes or just want firmer skin, I'd say definitely give this cream a go. I've only discovered L'Oreal moisturisers in the last six months, but boy are they good for a 'drugstore' brand!

There is absolutely no need to pay full price though, as it will frequently be heavily discounted at either Priceline or Chemist Warehouse and this is the time to buy! Maybe even Target or Kmart, but I don't shop there for skincare so I'm not sure. I actually use the 40-50% off sales as my chance to try out new skincare products I've had my eye on (or stock up on my staples/favourites).

RRP $36.99 (50ml)
Currently $21.99 at Chemist Warehouse (as at 2/12/2022)
L'Oreal skincare currently 40% off at Priceline although I can't find the exact product online! (as at 2/12/2022)

Quick Review: Dermalogica Daily Milkfoliant

Hi guys! I hope you're enjoying my weekly blog posts. I'm trying to push myself to get something published each Monday, and it's actually forcing me to be more organised, which is definitely a good thing! Recently I was sent Dermalogica's Daily Milkfoliant to trial and review on two other websites (with no obligation to post about here on the blog), so I thought I'd tell you my thoughts in case this is a product you're keen to try!

'Calming vegan exfoliating powder polishes skin while supporting the skin's moisture barrier. Vegan milky powder exfoliant with Oat and Coconut activates upon contact with water, releasing botanical extracts to help polish away dead skin cells. This gentle exfoliating powder and a blend with fruit-based Grape Extract and Arginine rich in Alpha Hydroxy Acids (AHAs) and Beta Hydroxy Acids (BHAs) work together with Coconut Milk for smoother, softer skin. Harvested from Papaya, Papain Extract provides exfoliating properties, helping to resurface skin.'

I'm really enjoying the new Dermalogica Daily Milkfoliant. First of all the pretty blue packaging looks great on my bathroom shelf. The bottle design is highly functional and the small dispensing hole means it's quite difficult to accidentally let water into the bottle. The product itself is a powder that you add a few drops of water to, making a paste, which you then use to exfoliate your face. I love how gentle this is. It's non-abrasive and doesn't feel like a normal exfoliant. Afterwards my skin feels refreshed, clean, smooth and polished. I've noticed my skin tone is really even lately. I do have an extensive skincare routine but I feel like the Dermalogica Daily Milkfoliant is definitely contributing to how fresh, smooth and even my complexion is looking. I love this product and would highly recommend it.

Retailing for $99 (74g) it is not cheap. You can get a smaller size for $24 (13ml)

My tips:

~ I'd recommend this to anyone with sensitive skin as it's super gentle, non-abrasive and calming, so is unlikely to irritate those with sensitive skin
~ Make sure you tightly seal the bottle after use especially if keeping it on the shower shelf, as you don't want any water getting in. The powder needs to be kept dry.
~ Even though it says 'daily' milkfoliant I recommend starting off using every other day. It's gentle af, but as with anything, best not to launch right in. I learned this recently with a new retinol serum. RIP my skin lol.

I got a nostalgia hit trialling this, as I used to love using Dermalogica's original Daily Microfoliant back in the day. In checking out the Dermalogica website, I've just noticed there is a special 2021 Limited Edition Daily Microfoliant going for $89 (74g) so that's slightly cheaper, if you were wanting to try the Microfoliant instead of the Daily Milkfoliant. OK, have a good day!

David Jones Deluxe Beauty Edit Bag!

Hi guys! I'm so excited to have another Deluxe Beauty Edit Bag in my hot little hands! I got the last one and when my husband suggested he get me the latest one for Mother's Day, I was like, yes please! This is a bag full of luxe beauty samples valued at over $350 (including the bag) that you buy from David Jones for just $39.95. I love the variety of products and brands, and it's especially great since I wouldn't splurge on full-sized products of these brands. I love being able to try a mini version from a high end brand, not to mention these smaller sizes are ideal for travel (if that ever happens again!). My one tip would be if you want one of these bags, buy it as soon as you see the offer, as they sell out super fast! Let's have a look at what you get:

David Jones Deluxe Beauty Edit
~ large clear plastic zippered bag with black trim
~ $10 David Jones Beauty voucher (to be redeemed on brands featured in the bag)
~ David Jones Powder Brush
~ Elizabeth Arden Retinol Ceramide Capsules Line Erasing Night Serum (7 capsules)
~ Antipodes Manuka Honey Skin Brightening Light Day Cream (15ml)
~ Grown Alchemist Anti-Pollution Primer (12ml)
~ Molton Brown Suede Orris Bath and Shower Gel (30ml)
~ Clinique Moisture Surge 72 Hour Auto-Replenising Hydrator (7ml)
~ Burts Bees Night Cream with Royal Jelly (18.9g)
~ Philosophy Renewed Hope In A Jar Renewing Dew Concentrate (3ml)
~ Loving Tan Deluxe Gradual Tan Nourishing Tinted Body Lotion (20ml)
~ Natio Ageless Rosehip Oil Cold Pressed (15ml)
~ Bvlgari Rose Goldea Blossom Delight Eau De Parfum (5ml)
~ Marvis Cinnamon Mint Toothpaste (10ml)
~ Dermalogica Dynamic Skin Recovery (7ml)
~ Jurlique Herbal Recovery Signature Moisturising Cream (10ml)
~ Inika Lipstick in Mulberry (3.5g)
~ MAC Strobe Cream (6ml)
~ OPI Nail Lacquer no shade name given (3.75ml)
~ BioEffect EGF Day Serum (5ml)
~ Marc Jacobs Daisy Love Eau De Toilette (4ml)
~ Coach Dreams Eau De Parfum (4.5ml)
~ Shu Uemura Skin Purifier (50ml)
~ L'Occitane Reset Nuit Serum (can't read weight on the packaging)

I'm pretty happy with everything in this bag, with the possible exception of the gradual tanner, because I don't really use those, but maybe I'll give it a go? The toothpaste has thrown me and I'm not the biggest fan of that sparkly baby pink nail shade, but everything else is pretty cool. I especially love trying luxe serums and moisturisers and can't wait to try the Inika lipstick. I'm always happy to score a new makeup brush and I'm honestly thrilled with the inclusion of the Elizabeth Arden Retinol Ceramide capsules, as I adore them so much! Also, this will be my first ever Shu Uemura product and I'm so excited to try it, given the hype this brand receives in the beauty community.

Review: al.ive body Earth Collection!

Hi guys! How are you all doing in these uncertain times? Are you getting sick of every sentence ending in 'during these uncertain times' or is that just me? To fill you in, I've been baking a lot of cupcakes, trying to be more active on my Instagram accounts, watching Netflix shows (anyone else enjoying the trash that is Too Hot To Handle?) and we bought some toilet paper off Amazon (exciting! lol) and scored a free month's trial of Amazon Prime Video, so I've been watching a lot of movies too. Another thing I've been doing a lot is washing my hands, so I was thrilled to be sent a hand and body duo recently. It couldn't have come at a better time!

al.ive body is an Aussie brand created by interior designer sisters Alisa and Lysandra. Their hand and body range expertly combines product purity with designer aesthetics to stimulate your senses and shape your surroundings. They believe that being surrounded by beautiful things improves the mood and increases our quality of life. I love this! Lovely products certainly make me feel special and happy. Especially if they look good, smell great, work well and are good for the environment, such as the eco-friendly al.ive body range.

Harnessing the power of essential oils and native botanical extracts, the al.ive body range is naturally derived, 100% palm oil free, vegan and never tested on animals. The products don't contain any SLS/SLES or parabens and are natural and gentle on the skin. The name 'al.ive body' was inspired by the twin sisters passion for environmental causes that help keep the Earth alive and contains the first initials of their names. Clever! The girls also have a tree planting pledge with charity One Tree Planted, where for every product purchased online or via a stockist, they will plant a tree in Australia to help the planet thrive. This is such an amazing and thoughtful initiative! The bottles are 100% recyclable and the sisters will be introducing refill pouches to enable re-use.

I've been trialling the Kaffir Lime & Green Tea Wash & Lotion Duo, which comes in a matching tray, perfect to display on the bathroom vanity. This consists of the Natural Hand & Body Lotion (500ml) and the Natural Hand & Body Wash (500ml). These products smell amazing, so fresh, fruity and zingy. It's just a happy scent! You get a lot of product, so they will last for ages, providing great value for money. Some details on the naturally derived ingredients:

~ Kaffir Lime Leaf Extract is packed with antioxidants and uplifts body and mind

~ Finger Lime Fruit Extract is high in vitamin A & C and improves hydration

~ Green Tea Leaf Extract is detoxifying and has anti-inflammatory properties

The hand wash is a runny texture, but despite this it lathers up really well and provides a satisfying cleanse, leaving my skin feeling clean and refreshed. This doesn't dry my hands out either! These products are so well designed. Despite the wash being a thin consistency, the bottles don't drip or get messy at all. You're just left with the beautiful, smooth, perfectly-interlocking bottles on display! I'd highly recommend this Hand & Body Wash, I'm loving it!

The hand and body lotion is not too thin and not too thick in texture. It smells divine as you rub it in, and it leaves my body feeling soft, moisturised and nourished. It absorbs quickly and doesn't leave any sticky, uncomfortable residue or tacky feeling to the skin. That'a one thing that puts me off using body lotion, but no concerns with that here, thank goodness!

The Earth Collection Wash & Lotion Duo is Alisa and Lysandra's first release, and comes in three beautiful earthy hues. Along with the delicious Kaffir Lime & Green Tea scent, the other fragrances are Fig, Apricot & Sage and Coconut & Wild Orange. What a perfect idea for a Mother's Day gift!

2020 Project Pan: February - April

Hi guys! Well I've just finished my 2020 Masking Challenge (here are the results) and now it's straight on to my 2020 Project Pan! I've been so keen to get into this, but knew it was way too ambitious to start whilst using twenty masks in a month (which ended up only being ten lol), so here we go! This lot of products I'll be going hard on for three months, from February right through until the end of April.

The idea behind this is to use up a shit-ton of products that would normally just be sitting in the cupboard, approaching their expiry dates, possibly hidden from sight behind other products #beautybloggerproblems ~ I've specifically picked out things I don't want to go to waste, things I really want to use and things I can power through.

My plan at this stage is to pick another 20 products for the next Project Pan (May - July) and so forth until the end of the year, then see how I've done. However, I may carry some products over into the next Project Pan if I'm really loving them/I love the results/I'm nearly finished it for example. OK so I've only really thought through the first three months lol. I want to just dive in and play it by ear basically!

Here are the first lot of products in my Feb - April Project Pan!

1.  Clear Skincare Microdermabrasion Cream*
2   Kit Pomegranate & Pink Grapefruit Body Lotion
3.  Lush Twilight Shower Gel
4.  Mario Badescu Super Collagen Mask
5.  La Roche-Posay Serozinc
6.  Skin Physics Lash & Brow Magic Enhancing Treatment
7.  L'Oreal Pure Clay Anti-Blemish Mask
8.  Chapstick Total Hydration Conditioning Lip Scrub*
9.  GlamGlow GravityMud Firming Treatment
10. Nip + Fab Skin No Needle Fix Serum
11. Mario Badescu Glycolic Foaming Cleanser
12. Pureology Colour Fanatic Multi-Tasking Hair Beautifier*
13. The Base Collective Magnesium & White Tea Hand & Body Wash*
14. Revlon Youth FX Fill + Blur Primer
15. Neutrogena Visibly Clear Light Therapy Spot Treatment
16. StriVectin SD Advanced Intensive Concentrate for Wrinkles & Stretch Marks
17. A'kin Rose Mist Toner
18. Andalou Youth Firm Night Cream
19. Swisse Micellar Makeup Remover
20. Olay Total Effects Whip Moisturizer

Wish me luck with this lot! Hopefully I can finish a few of them over the next three months or at least make a big dent in them. Anyway I'm sure it will feel good to be 'shopping my stash' and working towards emptying out my beauty cupboard. I'm so sick of being overwhelmed with products everywhere!

Results: 2020 Masking Challenge!

Hi guys! I'm writing this introduction last, so I've used all the masks featured below now, and I have to say this Challenge was harder than I thought it would be! Here's the blog post explaining this Masking Challenge, in case you haven't read that. First of all, it's hard finding the time for a mask nearly every day, then there's taking my skin's reaction to multiple masks into consideration. My skin was more sensitive than I thought and really didn't like lots of masks in a row, so I had to have days off in between, setting me back in time and motivation. Because of this I've decided to do away with the second part of this challenge (so I will have used 10 masks instead of 20). I really don't want to stress my skin out any further. Anyway, here are my experiences with the masks I used. Comment below if you've used any of these and what you thought of it!

1. Mario Badescu Super Collagen Mask

'Unveil plumper,  firmer, more youthful-looking skin. Perfect for dry or dull complexions in need of a lift, this Collagen-packed formula works to help improve skin's elasticity while smoothing the look of fine lines and wrinkles.'

Type: hard-drying. Wash off after waiting 15-20 minutes for it to dry. Use 2-3 times per week.

My thoughts
First of all, I'm a fan of this type of hard-drying mask, as it's so easy to wash off in the shower, and not as messy as a sheet mask. Results-wise, I'm very impressed! The first thing I noticed was how bright my skin was afterwards, followed by really even skin tone. Then I noticed a tighter complexion, particularly under my eyes and to the sides of my mouth. This one would be perfect to use in preparation for an event.

2. 7th Heaven Manuka Honey Peel-Off Mask*

'With Manuka honey collected from the nectar of the bushes of New Zealand, this natural cleansing peel-off mask will gently remove dead cells. Used regularly pores will be emptied and restored!'

Type: peel-off. Apply, wait 20-25 minutes until dry then peel off.

My thoughts
I'm not in love with the formula, as it was difficult and messy to apply what is essentially sticky honey all over my face then attempt to wash it off my hands. Results-wise, I couldn't see much of a difference in my complexion, other than the slight yellow tinge of my skin after removing it! I wouldn't purchase this one, to be honest.

3. Aus Medic Co. Phyto-Nutrient Face Mask

'A phyto-nutrient rich formulation designed to clear dead skin cells and surface debris to minimise the appearance of enlarged pores unveiling radiant, glowing and healthy skin.'

Type: A thick light green cream containing microcapsules that you massage in, leave on for 5-10 minutes then rinse off.

My thoughts
This was quite nice to apply and massage into the skin. This took ages to wash off in the shower but that could be because I applied quite a thick layer to use it all up in one go. Afterwards, my skin felt really soft and smooth, so this definitely exfoliated off the dead skin cells. I quite liked this one!

4. 7th Heaven Coconut Cream Deep Moisture Boost Hydrating Mask*

'Give your face a nourishing hydration treatment with intensive moisture from Shea and Cocoa butters, all mixed up with a generous helping of creamy coconut freshness.'

Type: This is a thick white cream mask that's non-drying, you simply wait 10-15 minutes then wash it off, designed to be used once a week.

My thoughts
This felt soothing upon application, but I did experience tingling whilst it was on. I'm not sure if my skin is freaking out from too many masks (I specifically chose a moisturising, gentle mask not one with hardcore ingredients). After I washed it off, my skin looked healthy and definitely had a glow to it. My skin tone looked even too. I'd get this one again for sure!

5. L'Oreal Pure Clay Anti-Blemish Mask

'Combines 3 pure clays with the soothing properties of Marine Algae Extract to help clear blackheads and tighten pores.'

Type: Apply a thin layer over a cleansed face, wait 10-15 minutes then rinse off with warm water. Can be used twice a week.

My thoughts
This was super easy to apply because the formula is quite thin and very smooth and creamy, despite it appearing thick in the pot. I also love the subtle fragrance of this mask and the colour of it! I picked this one for today because after yesterday's hydrating mask I developed two little pimples (which happens with me if I moisturise or hydrate my skin too much). After removing the mask, I noticed my pores were smaller and my skin was tighter. I think this might be my favourite of the masks I've tried so far.

~~~~
Editors Note!
After five masks in nearly as many days, my skin was slightly flushed/red in appearance and I broke out with about three quite small pimples. I treated these with a pimple cream overnight and skipped doing a mask for a day so that my skin had a chance to calm down. It looked much better the next day, so I proceeded with the Challenge.
~~~~

6. In-Flight Magic Celebrations Hangover Mask*

'Re-hydrates dehydrated skin, cools and soothes irritable skin, reduces redness and blotchiness, rejuvenates stressed skin.'

Type: This is a very thick white balm-like formula that you apply, leave on for 10 minutes (or even overnight) then wash off.

My thoughts
This smelled lovely and even though I applied a liberal amount, there's still enough left for 1-2 applications. It does feel quite gentle, soothing and calming whilst it sits on the skin. After removal my skin was just kind of the same? I didn't really notice a difference, but it was pleasant to use.

~~~~
Editors Note!
Nope, my skin was not liking this many masks and just kind of looked wrong and not healthy. Also my skin looked greasy as hell after applying moisturiser, like it was too moisturised or something! I took a few days break from the masking challenge at this point (plus I had a super busy few days so it would have been hard to fit a daily mask in, anyway).
~~~~

7. Peter Thomas Roth Pumpkin Enzyme Mask*

'This powerful mask helps address the appearance of a dull, aging complexion in three ways: by exfoliating with pumpkin enzyme, peeling with Alpha Hydroxy Acid and polishing with Aluminium Oxide Crystals.'

Type: This orange gel mask is an enzymatic dermal resurfacer that you apply in a thin layer then massage in to exfoliate then leave on for 3 - 7 minutes depending on skin sensitivity. Then wash off.

My thoughts
There was a bit of a hurty tingle once I applied this but it disappeared thankfully. I really liked how fresh, clean and renewed my skin felt after washing this off. I hadn't exfoliated in a while due to my skin freaking out, so I was overdue, and I was really happy with the results of this; smooth, healthy-looking, brighter skin.

8. 7th Heaven Dead Sea Mud Mask*

'With nutrient rich Dead Sea minerals and soothing lavender our natural mud mask hardens to draw out blocked pores leaving skin squeaky clean and really soft to the touch.'

Type: This is a deep pore cleansing hard drying formula that you leave on for 15 minutes then wash off.

My thoughts
I really liked my results from this mask! My skin looked fresh and brighter, not irritated at all and true to its claim, it was really soft. I'd definitely use this one again.

9. Garnier SkinActive Pure Charcoal Tissue Mask

'Our ultra-hydrating pore-refining charcoal tissue mask is enriched with black algae extract, LHA and Hyaluronic Acid to purify, refine pores and skin texture, while leaving skin hydrated.'

Type: A black sheet mask that you leave on for 15 minutes, then remove, massaging in the excess serum.

My thoughts
Honestly, I find sheet masks cold, wet and uncomfortable to wear. This does stick well to the face though. My skin did look brighter and my pores were smaller and more refined afterwards. I made the mistake of trying to apply my moisturiser after massaging in the extra serum and the two did not mix well, causing the dreaded ball up effect all over my face, which I had to micellar water off. Apart from this my skin did look nice, but I probably wouldn't bother with this mask again.

10. 7th Heaven Charcoal Mud Mask*

'Our purifying charcoal exfoliating walnut shell mask unclogs pores and polishes away grime. Detoxifying charcoal absorbs excess oil and impurities.'

Type: This is a black hard-drying mask that contains chunky walnut shell pieces, for oily, combo and problem skin. It can be used weekly. Leave on for 15 minutes or until dry then wash off.

My thoughts
I loved how my skin looked after using this! Admittedly I have been getting more sleep lately since it's the school holidays, but my skin was super smooth and looked clean and fresh. My skin tone was the best it has been, but again I'm not sure if that's the mask or the amount of sleep I've been getting!

In summary, I feel like I failed this Challenge because I only got halfway through and had to quit (I hate quitting things!) but I have no regrets about putting the health of my skin first. There's no way it would have handled ten more masks when I had ongoing issues during the first ten. Anyway I hope you enjoyed this challenge nonetheless!
