Cooking with Foodee: Mee Goreng!

Hi guys! I'm so excited to tell you all about Foodee, because, drum roll please ..... I made Mee Goreng! And it was a roaring success! Foodee was created by Jenn, Miss Foodee, a home cook who aims to simplify the grocery shopping and dinner cooking experience and take the stress out of the age old question 'what's for dinner?'. Foodee is an Adelaide-based meal kit experience at grocery store prices. You simply choose which meals you want to cook, and Foodee packs all the necessary ingredients and delivers them to your door! I'm thrilled to have collaborated with Foodee* and think it's a fabulous service.

Currently there are six meals to choose from:
~ Beef Pho
~ Curry Laksa
~ Satay
~ Rendang
~ Mee Goreng
~ Asam Laksa

More recipes will be added in the coming weeks too! So whether you are an experienced cook or a novice like me, there are choices to suit your tastes and skill level. I chose Mee Goreng because it looked super-straightforward, enabling me the best chance to obtain a nice photo for my foodie Instagram account and a delicious dinner, haha. Win win!

Delivery is available to the the Adelaide metro area and it's free on orders over $30. As long as you order by 11:59pm on Wednesdays, your delivery will come the following weekend. You can even add in pantry items and fresh vegetables as optional extras. Think anything from garlic, bok choy and kaffir lime leaves to red onions, fresh eggs and oyster sauce. I added in a generous jar of fried shallots and they really elevated my dish with a crunchy flavourful texture. And now I have the remainder to add to other Asian dishes I make, which is great because fried shallots are something I would never usually buy!

My Foodee experience was easy and fun! Included in the box is a recipe card for your chosen meal, with clear instructions. Up the top is the ingredients, then it says the amount of people the dish serves and the cooking time. I love a set of simple directions, and when there's only seven things to do, I'm like "YES, I can do this!". The only preparation for Mee Goreng was chopping the chicken, cutting the bok choy and chilis up (an optional extra I added) and cutting some lime wedges for garnishing. Then it was just simply a matter of frying the chicken until it was brown, adding the bok choy, the Mee Goreng sauce and the Singapore noodles. Check out my photos below for the cooking process.

The only thing not included in the pack was the eggs, but I had eggs in the fridge, as most people do, so I fried a couple to add to the top of the dish. I did have to Google 'which part of the bok choy do you eat' (lol) and apparently it's all of it, so I chopped up and added the whole thing. All of the ingredients provided were super fresh and great quality! The sauce was Ayam brand and the chicken was Lilydale. As an added bonus, the instructions said to use only half the chicken thighs, so I had leftover chicken which I used for dinner the following night!

Overall, I am really impressed with this Foodee box and my experience, and would highly recommend it if you're in Adelaide! I'm pretty happy with everything in this bag, with the possible exception of the gradual tanner, because I don't really use those, but maybe I'll give it a go? The toothpaste has thrown me and I'm not the biggest fan of that sparkly baby pink nail shade, but everything else is pretty cool. I especially love trying luxe serums and moisturisers and can't wait to try the Inika lipstick. I'm always happy to score a new makeup brush and I'm honestly thrilled with the inclusion of the Elizabeth Arden Retinol Ceramide capsules, as I adore them so much! Also, this will be my first ever Shu Uemura product and I'm so excited to try it, given the hype this brand receives in the beauty community.

Priceline Skincare Bag Gift With Purchase!

Hi guys! Lately it seems like Priceline are always running some offer or another, so today I'm featuring their current Skincare Bag deal. If you spend $69 or more in-store or online on skincare or suncare across participating brands, you get a FREE Skincare Gift Bag valued at over $200! This offer started on April 26th and runs until May 9, or until stocks run out. I only picked this up on April 2, and there were a fair few bags left in the Myer Centre, Adelaide store, but this will of course vary depending on your state and the store you visit. If you're interested in this Bag, I'd say head in-store toot sweet, before they run out.

Pictured above is everything I bought to qualify for this offer. Usually the brands you get to select from are also on special, which makes it even harder to reach $69, haha. I got a bottle of Garnier Micellar Cleansing Water because I'd nearly run out, then saw the Garnier Purifying Botanical Toner with Green Tea, which sounded calming, so I decided to try it. I needed more scrub so picked up the Garnier Pure Active Daily Pore Scrub Wash. I use wipes like nobody's business, and thus couldn't go past the Simple Micellar Cleansing Wipes double pack, and also picked up the Simple Regeneration Age Resisting Cleansing Wipes to try. I needed a new moisturiser since I've nearly finished my Shiseido one, so I decided to try the Olay Regenerist Micro-Sculpting Advanced Anti-Ageing Moisturiser. Then to reach the qualifying spend amount I needed a few dollars, so I got two Garnier Hydra Bomb Eye Tissue Masks, which were under $3 each.

I think this is a great bag, especially if you are going to buy skincare anyway. I usually use the opportunity to stock up on my regular items, then add on a few newbies I'm keen to try to reach the qualifying spend. I'm a bit disappointed the Skin Physics Gel Mask expired last year and I'm not sure what to do about it! Do I take my receipt and try to swap it for a good one? I guess I should, right? Great news regarding the Clean Skincare Microdermabrasion too; they do have two locations in Adelaide! I was expecting their Clinics to be Melbourne and Sydney only, but was pleasantly surprised when I checked.

Special Buy: David Jones Deluxe Beauty Edit Bag!

Hi guys! I got an email from David Jones alerting me to a 'special buy', this Deluxe Beauty Edit Bag, valued at over $250, which you could purchase for just $39.95. This was touted as an Online Exclusive, however there was no option to buy it online, so I was confused, along with other eager beauty lovers complaining on the David Jones Facebook page! Come Monday, I immediately emailed hubby the link and asked if he could check it out for me, thinking he'd go to DJ's in his lunch break. I'm really keen to try the majority of them, and now that I've photographed and blogged about it, I can LOL #beautybloggerlife I need to mention how cute the Good Girl fragrance sample is; look at the mini high heel bottle, you guys! I'm in love! I'm also super happy to get a weeks supply of Elizabeth Arden Ceramide Capsules as I love the effect they have on my skin, but never buy them for myself. Also included is a $10 David Jones Beauty Gift Card which can be redeemed on selected brands included in the bag.

The page on the David Jones website advertising this offer has been removed, but then it was never available to buy online. I know that David Jones Adelaide Central Plaza has sold out and they are unsure if they are getting anymore in, so if you're interested it's best to try your local David Jones beauty counter. Mecca Beauty Loop Level 1 Box!

Hi guys! Welcome to my super-quick post about the latest round of Mecca Beauty Loop Boxes. I was shocked to receive an email from Mecca recently saying my Level 1 box was ready to be picked up, because I didn't even know I'd qualified. I guess I'd forgotten about this little haul!

The last time I got a Beauty Loop box, I was on Level 2, and here's what was in that box for comparison. The Beauty Loop boxes are rewards based on your spending at Mecca and you can read all about that loyalty program on the Mecca website here.

Let's take a look at what's inside my Level 1 box!

LEVEL 1: Fresh Skin and Big Lashes

Eve Lom Cleanser
This sample consists of a 5ml sachet and an accompanying muslin cloth. You're meant to massage a small amount into dry skin to loosen makeup, dirt and excess oil. Then you dampen the muslin cloth and use a circular motion to remove traces of makeup residue and cleanser.

Grown Alchemist Age Repair Moisturiser
This is a 1.5ml sachet of Age Repair Moisturiser that contains phyto-peptide and white tea extract. It's supposed to noticeably restore cellular structure, boost radiance and visibly reduce the depth and appearance of wrinkles.

Mecca Max Pout Pop Lipstick
This is a mini-sized bullet of high pigment, creamy 'super-glam' lipstick from Mecca's own brand, Mecca Max. I got the pink shade Party Police, but I'm not sure if this colour is in every L1 box, or the shades are varied. Unlike the full-size version, these minis have a screw-top design instead of the pop-up packaging.

Urban Decay Troublemaker Mascara
This is a 2.5g mini-tube of TroubleMaker mascara from Urban Decay that promises 13.7 (lol, specific) times the lash volume and lashes that are super fat, super long and sex proof. Apparently it's meant to hold up in hot and heavy situations, which they 'tested themselves.' Many thanks for that visual, Urban Decay.

HAUL: Priceline 40% Off Makeup!

Hi guys! Another week, another haul it seems! And from Priceline again. Of course I'm referring to my last Priceline Haircare splurge, which you can read about in this post. I'm actually putting myself on a spending ban, because I also just dropped $100 on jewellery for an upcoming event, so I'm feeling a bit guilty. Anyhoo, let's see what I picked up in the recent makeup sale!

I picked up two Maybelline Masterliners (in black) as I use this eyeliner daily and go through them pretty quickly! I usually re-stock when they are half price, or 40% off in this case, which my maths-challenged brain pretty much equates to half price, because numbers.

Not pictured (oops!) is a Maybelline Instant Age Rewind Radiant Firming Makeup ~ this is my second bottle of this foundation, and obviously I love it or I wouldn't have repurchased! It looks really natural on, I love the finish and Creamy Ivory is such a good colour match for me.

I also picked up a Maybelline MasterCamo Color Correcting Pen in the shade Apricot, which is meant to hide dark circles.  I have yet to try this, but my fingers are crossed this will work well and not be drying under my eyes.

And now for the big one. I feel a bit weird that I bought the new Australis Kaleidoscope Eyeshadow Palette! God damn it, this just looked so fun. Don't judge me! I have not read a single review of this palette and I am a little scared to. Australis promise that these 12 shades, a combination of mattes and shimmers, provide great colour payoff and blend like a dream. We shall see!

HAUL: Priceline 50% Off Haircare!

Hi guys! I haven't blogged in nearly two weeks but I'm back! Truth be told, my March Movie Challenge damn near killed me! It took up so much time and I was sleep deprived to the max during March. Blog post on my results to come, but for now I want to share my haircare haul from last week's Priceline 50% off sale. I went in for one thing, dry shampoo, and came out with a bunch more! But when the total is only $29 and I saved myself a heap on products I'll definitely use, I'm not bothered. Let's see what I got!

Batiste Stylist XXL Volume Spray
I am so on the fence about this product! Batiste recently discontinued my favourite dry shampoo, their XXL Volume one, and replaced it with this. I really need a dry shampoo that will give my fine hair maximum volume; this does give great volume, but it's not a dry shampoo. It's apparently a 'backcomb spray' designed to 'oomph your locks'. However, the build-up from this spray is an absolute Bitch, and as a result I bought the....

Hair Recipe Strawberry & Mint Cleanse Shampoo
I put a call out on my Insta Stories for a great clarifying shampoo to combat product build up, and one helpful person (I can't recall who) suggested this fruity sounding baby. This is meant to 'detox your scalp and hair for a fresh clean feel' and I seriously hope it manages to get all the product out of my tresses, because it sucks to get out of the shower then notice your hair isn't properly clean. It was quite expensive, so I'm glad it was half price!

Schwarzkopf Extra Care Super Styling Lacquer
I love this stuff and buy it all the time! It's my go-to hairspray and basically never lets me down!

I've nearly finished this Hask Coconut Oil tube

Hask Argan Oil Healing Shine Hair Treatment
I was a bit bummed that Priceline had such a limited range of these little tubes of wonder to be honest! I've nearly finished my Coconut Oil one (pictured above) and really wanted to try a few different oils from the range, but had to settle on the Argan Oil variety. I'll see how I go with it!

Garnier Fructis Full & Luscious Shampoo
This contains volumising Fibra-cylane and Pomegranate and promises to thicken hair. I've been using shampoo and conditioner from my beauty cupboard for what seems like years, and haven't had to actually buy any new products, so I've actually forgotten which volumising shampoos I like! I'm going to have to start all over again trying them out lol. Fun times!

Dominate Fiber
This is a styling paste that gives a high hold textured look and thickens with caffeine and yes, it's for men! I didn't see that until I got home, as I was rushing in-store because the husband was waiting for me. I basically saw that this purports to provide a thickening boost, and would be ideal for scrunching a small amount into either the length of my hair or ponytail to hold a volumised wave style in place for longer. I've already tried this out and like it!

Priceline SkinCare Gift Bag!

Hi guys! Despite constant efforts to declutter the house and not add to my beauty stash, I was inexplicably drawn to the latest Priceline Skincare Gift Bag offer. There are so many exciting products here I can't wait to try including the L'Oreal Multi-Masking Kit, L'Oreal Hydra Bomb Mask, La Roche-Posay Serozinc and the Antipodes Skin-Plumping Serum! The sunscreens will definitely get used with summer approaching and I'm intrigued by the Olay Mini-Peel Treatment, too! There are only a few products I won't use, and I'll  probably include them in an upcoming Giveaway. Overall, I'm super-impressed with the contents of this bag, it was definitely worth getting!

The main reason I did the bag offer was that a few of my beauty staples were from the participating brands. So I'd be buying my Garnier Micellar Water and Swisspers Cucumber Facial Wipes at some point anyway, I may as well use the opportunity to stock up and get a free bag of goodies at the same time. I was disappointed that the participating brands were selling at full price, however, because I'm pretty sure with these Priceline GWP offers the participating brands are usually discounted. Correct me if I'm wrong! I wanted to re-stock my staple Olay Total Effects moisturiser, but at $33 when I usually get it for around $20-24, it was a waste of money, and I was better off using my qualifying spend on something not quite so rip-offy, lol. GIVEAWAY/REVIEW: Win 2 x Sending Love Boxes!*

If you love receiving boxes filled with exciting surprises in the mail, today's post will be right up your alley! I want to talk about the 'Don't Let Me Go' double scented candle from Serenity Living, because I've been burning this baby every day since my box arrived! The candle has the word 'LOVE' printed on the pretty jar, and I do, indeed! We are not given much information about the fragrance on the information sheet, just that it's a clean, crisp scent. These are exactly the kind of fragrances I adore, as strong scents will often give me a headache. No such problem with this fresh-scented candle, that incidentally has a 35 hour burn time. This is probably my favourite item in the box!

Next up is the Ylang Ylang and Tuberose soap by Tilley Soaps Australia. Now I thought I recognised the 'TILLEY' debossing on the product, and sure enough I have a bunch of Tilley Soaps in my bathroom vanity! I love collecting scented soaps from markets and little shops I come across and I have seen these selling in various places throughout the years. I normally select the scents that stand out to me and pick up about five bars at a time. I've always been into bath and shower products, and this fragranced soap does not disappoint. You get a luxurious, creamy lather that smells feminine and pretty, and the slightly smaller size of the bar makes it a breeze to hold and use (without dropping!) in the shower.
