Mani Monday: Nail Polish Loves!

Hi guys! I wanted to tell you about a couple of nail polishes I've been loving lately. Namely, Sally Hansen Insta-Dri Nail Color in Expresso* and Sally Hansen Color Therapy in Steely Serene.*

I've been switching between these two shades over the last few weeks, and it's been kind of interesting. I started off applying the brownish-nude Expresso because I was short on time and needed something that would dry fast. I love this shade! It's super-flattering and the wide, flat brush means application is speedy and easy.

Sally Hansen Insta-Dri in Expresso (the rest of my nails are a different shade!)

For my next mani I tested Sally Hansen's Steely Serene from the Color Therapy Argan Oil formula range. Now this is not normally my type of shade at all, but it looks a lot prettier on the nails than in the bottle! Again, the reason I chose this hue was because I was rushed and needed to paint my nails quickly. Therefore reds and bold shades were not an option, as mistakes would stand out and I wouldn't have time to fix them.

Over the weekend I knew only my thumbnails would be featuring in an Instagram photo; the grey shade was wearing off and I was in a rush again, so I just painted my thumbs with Expresso, over the top! Ever done that? One coat covered the Steely Serene shade perfectly and I was good to go! (see the KIN movie pass photo above - the nails behind the pass were a different colour).

Then for my son's Birthday Party on the weekend, I thought, let's fix this two-toned madness and painted over the rest of my nails with Expresso again! So now I was back where I started! LOL. Except I'm currently rocking layers of different shades. You'd never know though!

Restaurant Review: Spaghetti Crab!

Spaghetti Crab
47 O'Connell St
North Adelaide
08 8361 8714

Hi guys! Recently, my family and I dined at Spaghetti Crab, a unique one-dish restaurant located on O'Connell Street, North Adelaide. Today I'll be sharing my thoughts on the service, food and ambience, so sit back and get ready for my Spaghetti Crab experience!

The Story of Spaghetti Crab....

Service
I feel compelled to start off with the service, because it was simply outstanding. Our 5:30pm reservation was for two adults, but our babysitting fell through at the last minute, meaning we had to take our ten year old son. I felt terrible! But the staff went out of their way to accommodate us, pushing two outside tables together and turning on the heaters. All staff were super friendly, some explaining the dish, others asking if the heater was too hot and even fixing up our table so it didn't wobble! This was honestly the best customer service I've experienced in a long while, leaving me very impressed and with a big smile on my face.

Ambience
Spaghetti Crab, brought to us by Ruby Red Flamingo, is located along busy O'Connell Street in North Adelaide, an area I have very fond memories of. A few years ago I used to regularly watch movies at the Wallis Piccadilly cinema just up the road, and loved walking up O'Connell Street and checking out all the exciting eateries. So I experienced a cosy surge of nostalgia as I sat outside with my family, taking in the night-time atmosphere. I usually don't like sitting outside at restaurants, but I think this experience has turned me! The inside seating area is much larger than I anticipated, and the decor was fun and on trend.

Drinks
We were provided with a bottle of water for the table (always welcome, and something I never turn down) and looked over the menu, which essentially was a drinks menu as there only was one dish! I ordered a glass of Prosecco (Italian white wine) and my husband opted for a Lemonata. Now of course I tried both, and I must say even though the Prosecco was yummy, I loved hubby's sparkling lemon juice drink more, probably because it was super refreshing and tangy. Mr 10 had only table water during our visit, but don't feel bad; we fed him dinner beforehand and took him down the road for dessert straight after, so he was all good!

Hot Tip: letting your kid play Clash Of Clans on your husband's mobile when eating out is a damn good way to keep them busy. Not on your phone, that's for photographing the food!

Food
We were pleasantly surprised to be served a complimentary basket of bread, which came with a hardcore potent little bowl of chilli. Every time my Dad goes to a restaurant, he complains they don't give him any bread, and from what I've experienced, it's rare these days, so I love it when places include bread. It's the little things! Hubby was piling the chilli on, but I played it safe and applied the tiniest of amounts (thank God!). It was yummy, but it sure packed a punch!

The crab crackers and plastic bibs on the table are a good indication that diners at Spaghetti Crab are in for quite the experience! Personally, I loved the idea of cracking the crab open myself, because I'm always eager to learn new things, and I just think it adds to the whole adventure. We ordered Spaghetti Crab for two, which comes out as a generous serving on a large share platter. The waitress advised we start eating the spaghetti first, as the crab would continue to cook. The spaghetti was expertly cooked al dente, which I'm sure hubby appreciated, because he's used to my overcooked pasta. Even though I should have 'embraced the mess' I was determined not to get this dish all over my face, and I was successful! Hubby, not so much (but that's what the bib and the refresher towel are for!). I had fun cracking open the blue swimmer crab and extracting the meat, which was tender and delicious. The flavour was mild and perfect to try for someone who's not super keen on seafood. We definitely made use of the pot of extra spaghetti sauce, heaping it on our food and savouring the flavours. After we finished, we spotted the long wooden skewer undoubtedly provided to assist in removing the crab meat from the shell. Haha, oh well!

We thoroughly enjoyed our Spaghetti Crab experience and would highly recommend giving them a visit!
