Adelaide Event: Lucky Dumpling Market!

Hi guys! Last weekend we finally visited the Lucky Dumpling Market, which is part of the Oz Asia Festival. It actually ran from October 25 to November 11 and we went on the very last day (I was not missing out!). This event is set along the River Torrens in the city, right next to the Adelaide Convention Centre. I'd never been before, so I was pleasantly surprised by how beautiful it looked, especially with all the colourful lanterns! I'd been stalking this event on Instagram, working out what dishes I wanted to try and just generally fan-girling over the whole thing. This was a bit of a hard sell to convince my son he'd have fun, as he's fussy af, and doesn't eat any Asian food. We brought some food along for him, but needn't have, as they had hot chips and ice cream, so he was set. The weather was damn hot and the flies were out, but we managed to find some (Real Slim) Shady spots to sit, and look out over the river.

There was music, workshops and demonstrations to experience. The day we went it was a dance extravaganza, with many different cultural dances taking place on the stage. The range of food was pretty good too! You could choose from dumplings (of course!), noodles, BBQ, stir fries, curries and ice cream, among many more gourmet delights. I thought the food was yummy and really enjoyed it. The beer on the other hand... guys, I'm having the worst luck with beer lately. After the apple pomegranate beer fiasco at CheeseFest, I went for an original Coopers Pale Ale at this event, only to be handed a ridiculously cloudy bottom of the barrel plastic cup that I really should have exchanged for something resembling beer, not cloudy apple juice. Luckily it still tasted good. But my kingdom for a good beer at this point, you know?

I had to support The Filipino Project since they've been watching all the Stories on my Foodie Instagram account @imhungrymax and besides, I could not pass up the Ube (purple yam) soft serve ice cream. Just look at it!

Mecca Beauty Loop Level 1 Box!

Hi guys! Why am I shocked each and every time I'm notified there's a Mecca Beauty Loop box waiting in-store for me? Do I forget all my sneaky beauty purchases? I think so because I can't even remember the last time I bought something at Mecca lol. Thankfully this is not a Level 3 Box, then I'd be really worried!

Let's have a look inside the Level 1 box, shall we?

~ Too Faced Melted Liquified Long Wear Matte Lipstick in Sell Out
~ Mecca Max Eye Max Eyeliner Pencil in Blackest Black
~ Verso Hydration Serum
~ Kate Somerville Cold Cream Moisturizing Cleanser + Makeup Remover

I'm excited to try both of the skincare products. As they are both sachet sizes, I can get them used in one go which is a plus for my current decluttering obsession.

The Mecca Max eyeliner is indeed very black and intense which I love, and I am quite impressed with it. I'm even thinking of picking up a full-sized one next time I'm at Mecca Maxima.

Whilst the shade Sell Out is really flattering and right up my alley in terms of browny nudes, the formula of the Too Faced Melted Liquified Long Wear Matte lipstick is a bit uncomfortable and dry for me unfortunately. I've only tried it once so I'll definitely give it a few more goes before I form a solid opinion, but those are my first impressions. Again, I love the colour though!

Adelaide Event: CheeseFest + FERMENT Festival!

Hi guys! Last weekend I went to my first ever cheese festival, and after attending, I don't know why I haven't been until now! We had a 'grate' time at the Cheesefest + FERMENT Festival in Rymill Park (in Adelaide if you're not a local) on Sunday. The weather was beautiful, providing perfect conditions for an outdoor event. We were all handed a wine glass upon entry (even Mr 11 - don't worry, he only used his for water!), then were able to wander around the many stalls that were dotted around a closed off area within the parklands off East Terrace.

I was happy to see there was an area for kids, with games like Jenga, Snakes and Ladders and even a table tennis table set up, as I was a bit worried my son would get bored being at a cheese and wine event all day! He's quite fussy, so I was super proud when he tried a few meat, cheese and chocolate samples, and thankfully there was food he liked available to buy; think chips, ice cream and the yummiest chocolate brownies ever (yes, I tried some of his!). I'm sorry to say the brownie disappeared before I could even get a photo!

We were lucky enough to get an early seat for the live cooking demonstration by Masterchef's Matt Preston, as the area got super-packed. Matt was funny and entertaining and truly a larger than life character.

Unfortunately they had run out of the tote bags we were supposed to receive upon arrival, and it was a bit awkward sampling cheeses and buying food whilst carrying around a wine glass all day. I wanted to try a weird beer, so I got the apple and pomegranate: big mistake! Honestly, it was the worst beer I've ever tried! I made up for it by sampling a lot of Rose wine until I found one I liked, then bought a glass of that. Yes way, Rose!
