2020 Project Pan: February - April

Hi guys! Well I've just finished my 2020 Masking Challenge (here are the results) and now it's straight on to my 2020 Project Pan! I've been so keen to get into this, but knew it was way too ambitious to start whilst using twenty masks in a month (which ended up only being ten lol), so here we go! This lot of products I'll be going hard on for three months, from February right through until the end of April.

The idea behind this is to use up a shit-ton of products that would normally just be sitting in the cupboard, approaching their expiry dates, possibly hidden from sight behind other products #beautybloggerproblems ~ I've specifically picked out things I don't want to go to waste, things I really want to use and things I can power through.

My plan at this stage is to pick another 20 products for the next Project Pan (May - July) and so forth until the end of the year, then see how I've done. However, I may carry some products over into the next Project Pan if I'm really loving them/I love the results/I'm nearly finished it for example. OK so I've only really thought through the first three months lol. I want to just dive in and play it by ear basically!

Here are the first lot of products in my Feb - April Project Pan!

1.  Clear Skincare Microdermabrasion Cream*
2   Kit Pomegranate & Pink Grapefruit Body Lotion
3.  Lush Twilight Shower Gel
4.  Mario Badescu Super Collagen Mask
5.  La Roche-Posay Serozinc
6.  Skin Physics Lash & Brow Magic Enhancing Treatment
7.  L'Oreal Pure Clay Anti-Blemish Mask
8.  Chapstick Total Hydration Conditioning Lip Scrub*
9.  GlamGlow GravityMud Firming Treatment
10. Nip + Fab Skin No Needle Fix Serum
11. Mario Badescu Glycolic Foaming Cleanser
12. Pureology Colour Fanatic Multi-Tasking Hair Beautifier*
13. The Base Collective Magnesium & White Tea Hand & Body Wash*
14. Revlon Youth FX Fill + Blur Primer
15. Neutrogena Visibly Clear Light Therapy Spot Treatment
16. StriVectin SD Advanced Intensive Concentrate for Wrinkles & Stretch Marks
17. A'kin Rose Mist Toner
18. Andalou Youth Firm Night Cream
19. Swisse Micellar Makeup Remover
20. Olay Total Effects Whip Moisturizer

Wish me luck with this lot! Hopefully I can finish a few of them over the next three months or at least make a big dent in them. Anyway I'm sure it will feel good to be 'shopping my stash' and working towards emptying out my beauty cupboard. I'm so sick of being overwhelmed with products everywhere!

Priceline Skincare Gift Bag!

Hi guys! I caved and got the Priceline Skincare Gift Bag deal again. I honestly cannot resist this every time it comes around, even though I don't need any of the skincare inside the bag lol! This time you qualified by spending at least $69 in-store or online on skincare, suncare or tanning across participating brands and in return you could pick up the free skincare bag valued at over $170. This offer was valid between the 25th of October and the 6th of November, so it's already over but I wanted to let you guys know what was inside anyway, so you get a good idea of contents for when Priceline do the next Skincare Gift Bag Gift With Purchase.

The participating brands included a lot of my favourites which really helped, including Dr LeWinns, La Roche-Posay, Skin Republic, Skin Physics, Antipodes and Olay.

First up is my qualifying spend, and anyone would think I have an eye mask fetish? I decided to go bat shit cray cray on the eye masks and get one of everything pretty much! I also used the opportunity to buy a back up of my favourite Antipodes serum, which was discounted. The good thing about these deals is that the participating brands are usually all on sale, so you're saving money and getting your freebie! I got.....

Qualifying Spend
~ Antipodes Hosanna H2O Intensive Skin Plumping Serum
~ A'kin Rose Mist Toner
~ 2 x Skin Republic 24K Gold Aquagel Under Eye Patch
~ Skin Republic Brightening Eye Mask
~ Skin Republic Collagen Hydrogel Under Eye Patch
~ Skin Republic Fast Fix 5 Minute Under Eye Mask
~ Skin Republic Retinol Hydrogel Under Eye Patch

Now onto the actual bag contents. Sometimes I'm a bit disappointed when I look through the contents, but every time I reached in and pulled out a product, I was like 'YES, I can use that'! I'm really impressed with this selection of skincare goodies and am so happy I got the bag. Here's what was inside....

Bag Contents
~ Swisse Micellar Makeup Remover (300ml)
~ Sukin Blemish Control Clearing Facial Wash (125ml)
~ La Roche-Posay Thermal Spring Water Sensitive Skin (50ml)
~ Andalou Naturals Coconut Milk Youth Firm Night Cream (50g)
~ Neutrogena Ultra Sheer Face & Body Dry Touch Sunscreen Lotion (88ml)
~ Blessed By Nature Purifying Cleansing Wipes (25 wipes)
~ Olay Total Effects Whip Active Moisturiser (10g)
~ The Jojoba Company Australian Jojoba For Face (15ml)
~ Antipodes Vanilla Pod Hydrating Day Cream (15ml)
~ Skin Republic Purifying Charcoal + Green Tea Panda Face Mask Sheet (21ml)
~ Dr LeWinns Eternal Youth Charcoal & Black Pearl Detoxifying Face Mask (20ml)
~ Skin Physics Oxygen-C Hydrating Velvet Mask (40g)
~ A'kin Australian Tea Tree Oil Detoxifying Face Sheet Mask (20ml)
~ Priceline Everyday Sunscreen Lotion (15ml)
~ Derma-E Vitamin Concentrated Serum (7ml)
~ Avene Broad Spectrum Sunscreen (5ml)
~ Bondi Sands Coconut Beach Sunscreen Lotion (35ml)
~ Burts Bees Coconut & Pear Moisturizing Lip Balm (4.25g)

Overall this is a great bag in my opinion, especially with the weather warming up! Plenty of sunscreen, a lip balm, wipes and micellar water which I constantly use plus some interesting face masks and various creams. Well done, Priceline!

Beauty Empties!

Hi guys! My empties (beauty products I've finished) have been building up and I want to throw them out, but obviously I can't until after I've blogged about them, so here goes!

Burt's Bees Pink Grapefruit Facial Cleansing Towelettes ~ or wipes as we call them in the real word! I quite enjoyed the pink grapefruit fragrance and would consider repurchasing these in the future.

The Body Shop Tea Tree Skin-Clearing Mattifying Toner ~ this was a tad harsh but I am addicted to tea tree products, especially toners (that smell!). The Lush one is gentler, I'd probably get that next.

Bobbi Brown EXTRA Lip Tint ~ this was nice, but the formula was a bit soft. As a result, I went through it quite quickly. I won it, so no plans to buy this in the future.

Lush Rose Jam Shower Gel ~ one of my all time favourite shower gels, I will always re-purchase this when it's available. You can't beat that delicious rosy aroma! I've reviewed it before here.

Oh Deer Sugar (Oh) Mango Sorbet Soda Pop Body Scrub ~ this was so enjoyable, from the fruity fragrance to the soft, creamy yet scrubby formula. My type of scrub, I'll definitely repurchase.

Korres Mango Lip Butter ~ another mango product! These Korres lip butters are delightful and I want to get more in the future, but I have way too many lip balms to get through right now.

Olay Total Effects 7 In 1 Day Cream ~ I used to purchase this over and over as I do love the results, but I've been using up moisturisers from my beauty cupboard lately. I'd love to get back to using this however!

Revlon Colorstay Makeup for Combination/Oily Skin in Ivory ~ A Holy Grail foundation for me, but then the formula seemed to change and I started using Maybelline Instant Age Rewind Liquid foundation instead and fell in love with it! I still  use Colorstay when I need a long-lasting face.

Bobbi Brown Corrector in Porcelain Bisque ~ another Holy Grail product, see my review here. The absolute best thing I've found for concealing dark under eye circles, I will repurchase again and again.

Lush FUN in Pink ~ this came in the Lush Think Pink Gift hubby bought me. It was extremely soft and creamy and smelled great, but I went through it way too quickly. Will give it a miss.

Carmex Moisturising Lip Balm ~ the best solution to dry, chapped lips, I talked about this in my April Beauty Faves last month. I was kindly sent the Limited Edition Sugar Plum flavour* which comes in Unicorn packaging, check that out here.

GUESS 1981 Fragrance* ~ this perfume has such a feminine, sexy scent that I adore and I'm really bummed I've finished it! I've got a lot of other fragrances to use up however, so I won't be getting a new bottle. I reviewed it here.

Neutrogena Wet Skin Kids Sunscreen Spray ~ My son and I loved this! The spray application meant it was so quick and easy to apply and it soaked in really quickly. No plans to repurchase currently though as we have a few other sunscreens to get through.

Antipodes Hosanna H2O Skin-Plumping Serum ~ I love this so much I featured it in my April Beauty Favourites. I'm currently using my second bottle and will repurchase when it's on sale!

Redken Beach Envy Volume Texturising Conditioner* ~ conditioner take me so long to get through as I can only uses a tiny amount or my hair will go flat (yes, even with a volume conditioner, lol). This was nice, but I've got others in the cupboard to use now.

Rimmel #Insta Fix & Matte Translucent Powder* ~ I love this stuff and have already bought another. I'm a recent convert to translucent powder and now I'm wondering why I didn't try it sooner. I've reviewed it here.

I also threw out a disposable razor (not pictured) but I'm seriously considering purchasing a women's electric shaver in the future. I deserve it!

Giddyup for my May Empties!

Another month, another bunch of Empties. Most notably, Lush Happy Hippy. Goodbye, sweet lover. Oh, how I loved you. Until we meet again (which will be as soon as I can haul thy arse instore).

Olay Total Effects 7-in-1 Anti-Ageing Cream
I love this moisturiser! It really seems to improve the look of my skin and address the concerns it purports to. I've reviewed it before, here.

Lush Happy Hippy Hair and Body Gel
I refer to this product as a shower gel because I've never used it in my hair, but I have to say, out of all the shower gels I've tried, this is my favourite ever. By far. I simply adore it. It produces a high lather, which is satisfying in itself. But the fragrance, oh my GOD, the fragrance. It's subtle, grapefruity aroma is one of the most uplifting things I've ever experienced. True to the name, this makes me Happy. I don't know about the Hippy part, though. I got this half price during my trip to Melbourne in January, and I'm quite upset it's finished. Already planning when I can get my next bottle. I highly recommend this gorgeous shower gel to anyone and everyone. You won't regret it.

Batiste Dry Shampoo in Original
Batiste Dry Shampoo is one of my staples, however I prefer XXL Volume to Original. I can't get by without dry shampoo and don't know how I coped before it was invented. I probably would have actually had to WASH my hair with actual water! LOL. I've blogged about Batiste Dry Shampoo many times before: here are all the places.

Lush Big Shampoo
This is quite fun to use, and quite unlike your everyday liquid shampoos! It contains raw salt, seaweed and lime juice and smells great. You essentially scoop out some Big, dump it on your head and massage it in, complete with chunky raw salt crystals. Make sure you listen for the 'clink, clink, clink' sound as the salt drops down and hits the shower floor! I can't say my hair was bigger after using this, but it was clean and looked good. I'm undecided on a re-purchase at this point, because I still have a Lush New solid shampoo to finish. Besides, I'm single-handedly keeping the Dry Shampoo industry afloat.

Dermalogica Gentle Cream Exfoliant
This was a sample size I received. I'm a big fan of facial exfoliants, but this was way too gentle for me. I could barely feel the exfoliating particles and it basically just felt like a cream cleanser. It didn't feel like it was giving my skin a deep down clean, and was far from satisfying. It would probably suit those with sensitive skin.

Clean & Clear Advantage Fast Clearing Spot Gel
I really like this spot gel; it works effectively to clear my breakouts and the great thing about it is you can apply it then put makeup over the top and it doesn't have that annoying 'rub-off' effect. I wear makeup all day and I want a treatment that I can use throughout the day, not just at night when my makeup comes off. I received a bunch of these to trial from one of the trial/survey companies ages ago, and I'm still using them up.

REMINDER! Don't throw out your LUSH empties! Bring five empty pots instore and swap them over for a FREE Lush Fresh Face Mask!

Disclaimer: Batiste, Olay & Lush were bought by me. Dermalogica was a free sample and Clean & Clear was provided to trial and review for another company (non-blog related).

Empties With Reviews: A'kin, Benefit, Trilogy, L'Occitane and more!

Break it doooooooooooown ......

L'Occitane Gentle Body Scrub
This is a Certified Organic foaming body scrub containing powdered olive stones and moisturising olive tree extracts. This scrub has the most satisfying scratchy particles for effective exfoliation and I love how it lathers, making it easier to spread over your body. The only downfall is that even when I shook the product, it remained separated in the bottle. This resulted in lots of gel shooting out quickly, until I'd used half of the scrub. Then I had to squeeze the hell out of the tube to get some product out, which, you guessed it, was 90% scrub particles. Then I'd be squeezing really hard and suddenly a crapload of gel with no particles would squirt out! Fun fun fun!

A'Kin Orange Blossom Body Wash
High lather alert! This satisfying body wash imparts a heady, earthy orange aroma more so than a sweet one. A thick gel that left my skin feeling soft and clean, this product is parafen and sulphate free and not tested on animals. But mostly, it made me feel happy. Must be the 'aromatherapy benefits' of citrus!

Trilogy Clean + Balance Shampoo
I quite liked this shampoo that's formulated for fine, oily and combination hair types to combat product build up. It contains wheat amino acids and certified organic rosehip oil. A lovely gentle shampoo with a subtle pleasant fragrance. I felt like my scalp was thanking me for putting something non-chemically on it.

The Body Shop Sweet Lemon Shower Gel
Hauled here and given Top 5 Product status by me here. Impressive lather with an addictive lemon meringue pie aroma!

The Body Shop Sweet Lemon Body Scrub
Again, hauled here. This scrub has a strange, thick consistency and leaves a film on the skin, which some people will find annoying. Not as good as the gel, I still enjoyed the lemony goodness.

Benefit Sugarbomb Blush
Reviewed like a noob here, this blush has grown on me with time. I also use my own photos now. LOL!

ASAP Daily Exfoliating Facial Scrub
Reviewed here, this scrub is as harsh as Judge Judy. Yet, not as endearing. Proceed with caution. I used it as a body scrub, because I'm quite fond of my facial skin.

The Usual Suspects - the following products are regular empties, so expect maximum linkage to previous posts on them!

TN Dickinson's Witch Hazel
A toner for clear, smooth skin, reviewed here.

Batiste Dry Shampoo XXL Volume
One of my Top 5 Products, lookie here.

Maybelline MasterLiner Eyeliner
Love it! Reviewed here in October Favourites and here.

Olay Total Effects 7 in 1 Anti-Ageing Cream
My favourite moisturiser ever, reviewed here.

Garnier Pure Active Blackhead Clearing Scrub
I love the medicinal (unpleasant to many, I'm sure) stench of this scrub, and have returned to it, after trialling a few others. Reviewed here.

Disclaimer: Products I bought: The Body Shop Gel & Scrub, Batiste, TN Dickinsons, L'Occitane, Maybelline, Olay, Garnier. Products I won: Trilogy, Benefit. A'Kin was free as a thankyou for completing a trial and ASAP was a Gift With Purchase. All opinions are my own.

Accidental Beauty Haul. Seriously!

This teeny, tiny haul was completely accidental, because I was only supposed to get a new MasterLiner to replace the one that I just finished. However, I spied with my little eye something beginning with D. Can you guess? DISCOUNT BIN, of course! Chock-a-block with Natio products. Seriously, I can't believe how well-behaved my son was as I trawled through, checking lipstick colours of anything that wasn't sealed. So that explains the Natio gloss and lippie for $7.48 and $7.98 respectively. I also couldn't resist the Maybelline Dark Circles Eraser, just because I'm obsessed with dark circle concealers, the product exists and I hadn't tried it yet.

We then wandered from ChemMart to Coles. My favourite Olay Cleanser was $3.00 off, so I HTB (Had To Buy). And although I'm a complete slut for concealers and own at least 15 varieties, I am well aware of my foundation deficiency, so I thought I'd give the Rimmel Stay Matte a go. If it's shit, I'll just wear it around the house.

Total Damage:
Rimmel Stay Matte Foundation in Ivory
Natio Mineral Lip Gloss in Lily
Maybelline MasterLiner in Black
Maybelline Age Rewind Eraser Dark Circles Treatment Concealer
Olay Total Effects Cream Cleanser (Blemish Prone/Oily Skin)
Natio Lip Glow No. 5

SkinCare Routine: Back to Basics!

Oh hai! Just wanted to update you on my current skincare routine. I've just completed two consecutive skincare trials, which involved using four different products on my face for the last couple of months. As interesting as this was (and I do love trying new brands and blogging about my experiences!), I am determined to get Back To Basics for a while. My skin needs a break, and I want to feed it with stuff it's used to, products that I know work.

So here's my current skincare routine:

Pevonia Botanica Purifying Skin Mask
Elucent Anti-Ageing Gentle Cleanser
ASAP Daily Exfoliating Facial Scrub
TN Dickinson's Witch Hazel
Clinique Anti-Fatigue Cooling Eye Gel (Skin Supplies For Men range, lol)
Olay Total Effects 7-in-1 Anti-Ageing Eye Cream
Lancome Genifique Youth Activator (sample)
Olay Total Effects 7-in-1 Anti-Ageing Cream (Normal) SPF15

Disclaimer: All of these products were either won or bought by me, with the exception of the Lancome sample, which was a freebie.

What's your current skincare routine?

April/May Empties: Mega Editiion!

I've decided to combine my Empties from the last two months together into one giant post. Many of these are regular Empties products so I won't bore you with my thoughts on those. Let the Emptiness begin!

The Body Shop Papaya Body Scrub
O. M. G. I bought this in Singapore for half price. Best buy ever! The aroma was sensational and the scratchy exfoliating bits knocked my socks off. SO satisfying. Alas, this is no longer available to buy in Australia (I checked with The Body Shop staff). Although, they said try eBay. This product alone has totally got me hooked on body scrubs. Let me know in the comments your favourite body scrub!

Herbal Essences Tousle Me Softly Shampoo
I love this! It's infused with Wild Violet and Pomegranate. Smells great and my hair actually looked good after use. I will probably buy this again once I use up all my other shampoos.

Colgate Max White One Toothpaste
Again, I was pleasantly surprised. I'm no Dentist, but this seemed like an exfoliant for the teeth! It contains little particles that help remove stains. It claims to give you whiter teeth in one week, but I actually noticed whiter teeth after one use. Maybe my teeth are just that bad. LOL. I got two tubes for free, so I'm now on my second tube, and will probably buy (shock, horror!) one when it runs out.

Garnier Fructis Fortifying Conditioner
I wasn't really impressed with the results from this and I won't get it again. Probably not the conditioner's fault, as I need hair products aimed at fine hair, something that will give me volume. Shit know why I bought something with the word 'Normal' on it! Maybe this is hubbys? LOL.

Pantene Pro-V Aqua Light Conditioner
This is a "lightweight nourishing" conditioner that is supposed to give you "hair that is beautifully nourished with virtually no weight". Apparently the Aqua Light range was developed with a low-suds formula, because when the product is not rinsed out properly (due to too many bubbles) it can weigh the hair down. Personally, this conditioner (in conjunction with the shampoo) left my hair squeaky clean. But to the point where it was really difficult to brush (ie, it left my hair tangled). I already have really tangly hair, so this may or may not be related to the Aqua Light formula.

Sunsilk Plumped Up Volume Hairspray
So I saw the words "volume thickening and flexible hold hairspray" and I thought YES, this is for me. I am on a never-ending quest for volume and thickened locks. However, I was mighty disappointed when this bastard sprayed out huge bubbles into my hair. WTF? I have never had this happen with my usual Schwarzkopf Super Styling Lacquer. So I shook that fucker like buggery and STILL got huge bubbles. Lucky I know the emergency fix: blast it with the hairdryer until the bubbles disappear. As a result, I cannot use this in my fringe, however I can use it in my ponytail and kind of scrunch it after spraying. I won't be buying this again.

Schwarzkopf EC Ultimate Repair Shampoo
I won this range of products, but it's not really suited to my hair type. It contains 3 x liquid keratin which is more suited to very dry hair. For me, it just made my hair lank and lifeless. If your hair is mega-damaged, the injection of moisture this provides would be a godsend. Luckily, just about every product works fine on my husband's hair, because I've given him this range to use, too.

Sunsilk Frizz & Weather Defence Shampoo
I have absolutely no recollection of using this, so I better not comment. In the interest of fairness.

Olay Total Effects Cream Cleanser
Love it! I've previously covered this product here

Schwarzkopf EC Super Styling Lacquer
My favourite hairspray ever. Thoughts on it here

Batiste Dry Shampoo in Blush & Fresh
Adore these! I've blogged about them before here  and here and here

October Favourites

Here are my favourites for October. This includes two brand new products on the market, one newly-discovered product and an old lover :)

Urban Rituelle Vanilla Eau De Parfum
Loving this! I won a $100 UR voucher and included this delightful fragrance in my order. I'm so happy I did! It's a light, umm, vanilla-ey fragrance that's fresh and pretty. And not one of those strong aromas that gives me a headache. YAY!

Olay Total Effects Cream Cleanser
I used to use this cream cleanser years ago and I don't rememeber why I stopped! It's fabulous and I'm so happy I've rediscovered it. It has such a lovely fragrance and although it's a cream cleanser it contains sparse tiny exfoliating particles that are hardly noticeable, yet give me such a satisfying cleansing experience. Hope I remember to keep buying this. :)

Maybelline Eye Studio MasterLiner Cream Pencil
I was quite impressed with this eyeliner, which I bought in Black. Who uses brown eyeliner, seriously!? I normally dislike retractable eyeliner and stick with pencil ones, but I couldn't resist buying this, as it's quite reasonably priced. The formula is quite soft and creamy and it provides a dramatic line which would be great for an evening look (I wear it during the day, though). It has superior staying power and doesn't rub off or smudge. My new favourite eyeliner. For now. :)

Maybelline Fit Me Concealer
I bought this in Fair Clair, as part of my neverending quest to find my Holy Grail concealer. And I'm really loving it. I'm quite particular about my concealers. Even though I have a YSL Touche Eclat, I don't love it because it's a brush-on instead of a wand applicator. I was quite sceptical of a concealer thats concept is to let your natural skin shine through. No, that's what I'm trying to conceal! LOL. But this is a lovely creamy product that DOES cover my imperfections, is easily blendable and lasts all day. Currently my everyday concealer, however the hunt for my Holy Grail product continues.

* Urban Rituelle I won, all other products I bought with my own money.

What products are you loving right now?

July Empties

Toni & Guy Refreshing Dry Shampoo
Well if you read this blog you'd know I love this stuff and use it regularly. I usually go through one per month. It's the best, and I'll continue to purchase it due to its high quality. I've blogged about this product here

St. Ives Naturally Clear Green Tea Cleanser
This is quite a mild, gentle formulation, with satisfactory results, but it's not a favourite of mine and I won't be re-purchasing. I have previously reviewed this product here

Clinique 7 Day Scrub Cream
This smaller-sized product came as part of a GWP (Gift With Purchase) and I wasn't all that impressed with it, even though I've read that many others swear by it. It felt quite harsh on my face and is very dense with exfoliating (grainy) bits. I learned to use this product sparingly and to be very gentle while massaging it in, otherwise my face went a bit red. A big no on the re-purchase question.

Neutrogena Oil-Free Acne Stress Control Power-Clear Scrub
I didn't really like this and ended up using it as a body wash/scrub. The particles were few and far between and I wasn't a fan of the texture. Also it claims to "help prevent acne even before it emerges". I want to make a smart-arse comment about the possibility of scientifically proving a products ability to prevent something before it emerges (because how would you know of the possible existence or non-existence of something if it was stopped in its tracks before becoming visible, if you know what I mean) but I won't. LOL. This scrub is bullshit and I won't be re-purchasing.

Olay Total Effects 7-In-1 Anti-Ageing Cream
Absolutely LOVE this moisturiser. Love everything about it. Absorbs quickly, provides an unbeatable base for makeup, evens out my skin tone, reduces the appearance of fine lines, makes my skin supple and smooth and just in general, makes my skin look its best. It's my staple moisturiser and I can't recommend it enough. You definitely need to try this, if you haven't already. It really makes your skin look amazing (and that can be a hard task to perform sometimes on my skin).

** Out of this lot, just the St. Ives Green Tea Cleanser was provided for consideration. I am not affiliated with any of the above Companies.
