OPI Austin-Tatious Turquoise Manicure

I took a bit of a blogging break after a terrible July, but now I'm back with this shimmery turquoise OPI manicure. I'll be up front; I don't really like it. I'm not even sure why, either. I normally love this type of shade. Anything blue, green, teal or turquoise looks so pretty to me, plus I'm a sucker for glitter in all its forms, so it remains a mystery why I want to remove this so quickly after putting it on. Weirdly, I think it actually photographed better than it looks in real life.

Product Used:
OPI Nail Lacquer in Austin-Tatious Turquoise

The lacquer didn't apply easily, appearing see-through in some areas and thick in others, and it took some fancy brushwork to smooth it out on the second coat. The day after I applied it, I decided to give myself a pedicure, and used nail polish remover to dissolve 27 layers of red polish from my toenails (who has the time to remove it and start afresh every fucking time, I just paint over the top). Needless to say, the remover also dissolved half my fingernail polish! Oh and I also got little bits of remover-soaked cotton wool balls stuck to my mani. Job well done. This gives me a great excuse to fix up this unholy disaster and hopefully pick a colour I like this time.

What's your favourite OPI shade? I never have much luck with the brand!

  1. I like it and I adore OPI products - such a massive range of colours.
Maybe you don't like it because you are pale skinned? I am pale too and I have noticed that some of the blues and greens just do not cut it on me - they make me look veiny! I always end up removing them pretty quickly.
I had one glorious, shimmery green that sadly just looks better in the bottle. It must be like clothing - some things look good and others do not. :D

    1. Yes, it could be my pale skin I suppose. Teal, blue and green normally looks good on me though. I'm thinking it's the shimmer. This would probably look better without the sparkle. Never thought I'd say that! :)

  2. I feel bad saying this but I don't have a fave shade because I hardly ever use nail polish. I bit my nails so they look crap even with nail polish and I just can't seem to get around to giving myself a pedicure or going out to get one! But...I've signed up to Bellabox and have been informed it's on it's way, so a nice bottle of OPI nailpolish would make me happy, because really, I need to start making more of an effort!

  3. That colour is interesting. I'm a big fan of cream finishes but I can definitely see why you were drawn to this one. It's a shame you weren't a fan in the end. I do like OPI but I can't see I LOVE the polishes. The colour selection is just heavenly though :P

    1. I think a cream instead of shimmer finish would have made all the difference with this. I agree, OPI do have an awesome colour range. Thanks for visiting :)

  4. What a beautiful shade! Shame it took some effort to make it work though! I'd have thought the quality would be better since it's OPI and everything.
