Mermaid Julisa Ghost Cactus Manicure!

It feels like forever since I've treated myself to a DIY manicure! I wore an apricot-coloured polish on my nails for my Melbourne trip, and I was so uninspired by it I decided not to blog it. I deliberately chose a light-hued shade so that if it chipped while I was away it wouldn't be as noticeable as, say, fire engine red.

Anyway, I finally got around to re-doing my nails and decided to paint on the Mermaid Julisa polish I won from an Instagram competition! I was able to choose a shade as my prize, and I selected the glittery Ghost Cactus, one of their signature Mermaid shades. It has a silver-blue base with rainbow-coloured holographic glitter, so the fun factor is off the chart! These polishes have a 5-free formula and are vegan friendly, too, with absolutely no animal testing.

This is two thin coats. I probably could have gone three, but didn't. The end result is a really pretty blue-green shade with lots of tiny multi-coloured shimmery particles. I love it. Let's hope it's not a bitch to remove!

  1. I so love glittery nail polish but hate the effort to remove it. I did see a hack recently using a base coat that peels off, must investigate. This colour is so pretty!!

    1. Yes I think I saw the same hack! I think the one I saw was Kitsch Snitch mentioning a peel off base coat for under glitters. :)

  2. That colour is cute! I love glitter polish too and like everyone else I hate removing it, but I have found that if I use the foil method + a great nail polish remover (I use OPI's Expert Touch - the purple one - not cheap, but I bought a large bottle from a trade store), then it comes off easily and quickly. I'm keen to try a peel off base coat at some stage though.

    2. It's best explained here - http://www.beautyheaven.com.au/custom-stub-for-357

If the link doesn't work, then all you have to do is grab 10 cotton balls/rounds, 10 cut squares of alfoil, one by one saturate the cotton ball/round in nail polish remover then place one on each nail, wrap one piece of foil around each finger, wait about 5 minutes so the remover can soak in (I don't wait that long because my remover is good + I'm impatient!) before sliding the foil and the cotton away from your fingers. You might find you'll have to clean up a bit further, but it should make things easier. :o)

  3. Lovely shade! I have just recently discovered this nail polish brand at a Bloggers United event. Love that the polishes are all 5 free. I will have to try the polish I received soon.

  4. The color is quite nice for only 2 coats! Usually it takes 3-4 coats of anything glitter to really see the depth of color. DF xoxo
