Review: TONIC Skincare Range!*

Hi guys! About a month ago I was kindly sent a trio of skincare products from the TONIC range to try out; the Clarifying Foaming Cleanser, Microexfoliant+ and the Vita Glow Hydrate. This is an Aussie-made skincare collection that is available exclusively at Essential Beauty salons across Australia. You may have already seen the bright red packaging in-store! The products were developed by a team of industry professionals including skincare specialists, manufacturers and botanical chemists. Let's take a closer look at the TONIC philosophy and the products themselves.

TONIC believe in 'strength and energy from nature' and 'effective targeted results'. Their philosophy is to use the power of nature via plant extracts and essential oils that have been chosen for their healing and anti-ageing properties. They do not use chemicals in their products and are proud to produce a skincare collection that uses naturally derived ingredients.

TONIC Clarifying Foaming Cleanser*

'This ultra-mild gel cleanser addresses complexion imbalance while cleansing deeply, aiding in calming any areas of redness. Natural BHA and AHA fruit acids gently remove dead skin cells and daily impurities without removing important skin oils'.

The Clarifying Foaming Cleanser is designed for normal/oily/combination skin types and contains the following active ingredients; Salicylic Acid, Aloe Vera, Witch Hazel extract, Fruit Acids (AHA) and Canadian Willow herb. This Cleanser is a fairly thick, slightly yellow-hued gel that foams easily and well. It's extremely gentle and the subtle scent is calming and earthy. The aroma listed on the website for this product is 'tranquil + vanilla' and this seems to fit with what I experienced. This foaming cleanser leaves my skin really soft and feeling thoroughly cleansed, but not dry or tight at all. I really enjoy using this Cleanser, and would recommend trying it if you're after a natural, effective product.

TONIC Microexfoliant+*

'This velvety face exfoliant combines biodegradable beads and fruit acids with gentle cleansing and hydrating oils. Refines pores and promotes healthy cell renewal without damaging or drying skin'.

The Microexfoliant+ is designed for all skin types and contains Kaolin Clay, Willow Bark, Fruit Acids (AHA), Papaya Enzyme, Bamboo and Calendula extract as its active ingredients. This Microexfoliant is slightly off-white, and has a really creamy consistency. The scrubby particles are tiny and there are plenty of them in the mix, giving a really satisfying yet not too abrasive exfoliation for us scrub-lovers! I love the feel of this on my skin. It's the perfect combination of creamy and scrubby, and leaves my skin so soft and smooth. It does have a tendency to settle in the container, so I'd advise giving it a quick shake before use to get it mixed evenly. I prefer the 'tranquil + vanilla' scent of the Cleanser to the 'Paradise' scent of this Microexfoliant, but it's not unpleasant, just not as great as the calming smell. This product is another winner for me!

TONIC Vita Glow Hydrate*

'A nourishing cream that has been fortified with potent antioxidants, organic butters and nutritious vitamin-enriched extracts to provide illumination and ultimate hydration that will restore the skin's acid mantle.'

The Vita Glow Hydrate is designed for dry and mature skin types and contains the following active ingredients; Cocoa Seed Butter, Ribose, Hyaluronic Acid, Elderberry and Mica. This is a lightweight to medium consistency white cream that feels luxurious and absorbs easily into the skin. I felt like it had an earthy fragrance like the Cleanser, but it turns out this has the Paradise aroma! Still, it's pleasant and not overpowering at all. The Vita Glow left my skin feeling supple to the touch, and it felt nourished and healthy, as though it had been 'fed' some nutrients. I did feel as though my face had a bit of an extra glow after using this moisturiser, too. From time to time I did have a bit of trouble with the pump packaging, as on some occasions my pumps did not dispense any product, but after a bit of manipulation, this problem was fixed.

If these products aren't your cup of tea, other products in the collection include the Soft Focus Eye Cream, Ultra Detox Serum, Cleansing Milk, Vita Day Glow Purify, Advanced Acne Blemish Cream, Night Cream and the Ultra Age Rewind Serum. Something I found really helpful and interesting? A complete rundown of the ingredients TONIC use in their skincare and what said ingredients do to your skin! You can check that out on their website here. I love the bold, red design of these products! The range looks elegant and stylish, and once my bathroom renovation is complete, I can't wait to display them on my brand new vanity!

  1. Oh nice. I need an exfoliant cos I haven't used one in years and need to make more of an effort. I sometimes look at my face in the mirror and am horrified at what stares back at me!
