Oh hey, guys! Today I'll be talking about moving house. How many times have you shifted? I've only moved a handful of times, but I've hated it each and every time! It's just a hassle, right? Cleaning up, packing well into the night (if you're as disorganised as me!), getting next to no sleep, then enduring a full day of heavy box lifting and arguing with your partner about how to do things and where everything should go! Interestingly, my Mother-In-Law moves house on average once every eight months or so. She thrives on the excitement of it and seriously enjoys the whole process. LOL. I hope she's not reading this because that's pretty weird! She's obviously the exception to the rule.
I wish I had known about Hire A Mover for my house re-locations! They are experts who do the work for you, and they have locations in Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Perth, Adelaide and the Gold Coast. Soz Tasmania and Northern Territory. Awkward Face! You can get a quote within an hour by entering your suburb or postcode on their site, then answering a few easy questions (mostly tick box options). I tested this out however I did it on a Saturday; their website does say Quotes may take longer on weekends or outside of business hours. I received an auto-response email immediately, acknowledging my quote request and giving me further information about Hire A Mover's services.
I think we all worry about our precious items being smashed beyond repair in transit (my Benefit Cheekathon, Too Faced Chocolate Bar and Urban Decay Naked 3 palettes do not belong alongside bookcases, my lounge suite and 283 stuffed full boxes), which is why it's good that insurance is included when you Hire A Mover! Yassssss. So the Goods in Transit Insurance and Public Liability Insurance means your goods are covered if the company are negligent. That's one less thing to worry about!

I like the fact that this Company is part of The Hire Group, which also includes Hire A Box and Hire A Packer, so if

One last thing; I have to point out this awesome Interactive Moving House Check List - it's a PDF provided by Hire A Mover that lets you edit and save as you go, with helpful 4-6 weeks before moving, 2-3 weeks before moving, 1 week before moving and Moving Day sections, as well as a Change of Address checklist. I'm a huge List fangirl. I love making lists and getting stuff crossed off said lists. I do weekly and daily To Do lists, and sometimes I even add something to a List that I've already done just so that I can cross it off, because I'll be damned if I don't get credit for it! I have a new system lately where I cross off List items by highlighting the completed tasks with a green highlighter instead of simply ticking next to it. SO much more satisfying, you guys, and the page goes all pretty. I highly recommend giving it a go. Yeah, so 10/10 for the handy interactive checklists Hire A Mover! I'm going to email the PDF to my Mother-In-Law for her next move. If she's still talking to me!

How often have you moved houses?
Ugh, just the thought of moving house again makes me feel annoyed. Hopefully we will remain in the house we live in for many years, as our last move (after 16 years) was huge. It would be great to have someone like Hire A Mover to come and do it all for us. Might just have to keep their number ;)
ReplyDeleteIt would certainly take a lot of the stress out if it! Thanks for reading Lyndall :)
DeleteWe moved in February, our 23 move. I could and probably should dedicate an entire blog to moving. We move again at the end of the year. Hopefully our last move for a very long time.
ReplyDeleteOh wow, that's a lot of moves. You'd be an expert by now! Hope you don't have to move again in ages too, Raych. :)
DeleteFacing up to moving from regional Victoria. Sadly we have limited options because I would love to have someone do all the packing.
ReplyDeleteOh that sucks! Well I wish you a smooth and stress-free move. Just think how good it will be once you're in your new home! :)
DeleteGreat idea! It's likely I'll be moving from apartment no.3 to no.4. And I hate moving. And if I'd only moved those 4 times it'd be okay but I've also lived in more than a half a dozen rental properties before I bought as well.
ReplyDeleteI always hire movers but usually do the packing beforehand. And did I mention I hate it?!
Packing is so horrible isn't it? I didn't even know you could hire people to pack for you. Yes please!
DeleteI love checklists too! I'll have to check out the Hirer A Mover one next move I move, although I'm hoping that won't be for quite some time!
ReplyDeleteI might adopt your highlighter system of to do lists for my diary in the meanwhile. Making each done item look prettier might be the extra motivation I need!
List lovers unite! lol. Yes highlighting should definitely motivate you to get your tasks done. It does me, anyway! :)
DeleteCongrats on getting a sponsored post Di, how exciting!

Thanks Kez, it's just a bit exciting! xx
DeleteI cannot imagine packing up our house because of all the crap we've accumulated. I do hope to move north in the next 5-10 years though, so we'd better start thinking about getting rid of a bunch of junk. If/When I move I think "hire a mover" would be a bloody good place to start!
ReplyDeleteI'm hearing you, we've accumulated a lot of junk too! Hoping to declutter in the next couple of months, especially because we have a bathroom reno starting soon. Thanks for reading! :)
DeleteWish I'd known about Hire A Mover when I moved last year.....
ReplyDeleteSSG xxx
Oh no! Well at least you know about them for future moves! xxx
DeleteI've only moved twice in my lifetime (one of those was when I was still a toddler, so that doesn't count) & it was stressful enough doing it the 2nd time around. I remember I lost a necklace in the move, so insurance would've come in handy! I'll keep this post bookmarked in case I need it.
ReplyDeleteYeah, I love that insurance is included! Sorry you lost a necklace, hope it wasn't a sentimental piece. Thanks for reading Shell. :)
DeleteGreat move..ha! Congrats on your post. We have moved quite a bit as teachers and then not for ages until end 2014 when it was time to pack up and leave Sydney. We "did" do it all to save money and unfortunately we're not that pleased when we took the second of 2 quotes because of cost. NEXT time, and there was we went with a great local and well-known company here on the Central Coast and their professionalism along with their added extras that were at no cost (boxes, wardrobes) gave us peace of mind.
ReplyDeleteLol very punny! And thanks! I'm glad you found a reputable company in the end, added extras are always a great incentive :)
DeleteGlad to know they are on the Gold Coast as well, great post and love your hilarious style about GOT and hunky men, nice touch Di <3
ReplyDeleteHaha, thanks! I try my best. LOL!
DeleteI hate moving, its so much work! haha this is handy!
ReplyDeletePam xo/ Pam Scalfi♥
I know, right? Thank god for movers! xx
DeleteMoving is something I dread and hopefully next time I move it will be in a nice new fancy house!
ReplyDeleteThat's my dream too! Let's cross our fingers....
DeleteI have bookmarked this!!! x
ReplyDeleteGreat! Hope they come in handy for you! xx
