Happy New Year + Zoya Manicure!

Happy New Year! Yay, it's 2017, you guys! Hope you all had a wonderful New Year's Eve celebration, and had fun ringing in the New Year. I stayed home, downed some champagne and watched the fireworks on TV. Just the way I like it. Keep reading for my Zoya manicure!

New Years Eve was spent watching the fireworks from my lounge!

Yara nail polish by Zoya is such an interesting shade! Hubby saw it and asked "What colour is that?" and I answered army green. It contains tiny bits of silver glitter, so it's like a glam khaki (for the win!).

What pleased me the most though, was the ease of application of this no-fuss formula. Honestly, it was so forgiving. I only needed one coat (yes!) because you can actually smooth it out during application making it opaque and even in one go. Even as it's drying, Yara behaves like an angel allowing you to add more to thin areas and build up the colour, something I never attempt with other polishes.

When I applied Faby Top Coat, however, it started to remove some of the colour beneath it. I did ensure it was dry first, so I have no idea why this happened. It has happened to me before with other tops coats, too, so please enlighten me on this phenomenon if you know why it happens!

  4. Unusual deep green colour. Not sure why it does what you said. When I top coat clear, it does not affect the colour beneath.

  5. I love Zoya! This used to be my go-to polish when I was pregnant because they said it has less nasty chemicals than other nail polishes I owned at that time. HNY! xx

  8. Interesting colour! Having recently used some Zoya polishes for a Christmas mani, I agree with you in that they are forgiving & easy to paint with, not to mention pretty damn opaque too. Can't wait to use them again!

RE: Top coat - I've had this happen with fast drying top coats like Essie's Good To Go & the Poshé one I'm currently using. The best thing you can do is try & "float" the top coat lightly over the nail instead of brushstroking it on like you would a polish. I find that works best, but even then I still end up with a little bit of polish on the brush of my top coat. I just brush that excess off on a bit of clean paper before dipping my brush back into the bottle.

Oh & Happy New Year too! Mine was spent at home as well - there's NO WAY I'd brave Sydney's crowds on NYE! Been there, done that before, never again!

    1. You and me alike re New Years Eve, Shell! Thanks for info on the top coat situation - that's what I ended up doing, just barely touching it onto the nail instead of swiping. Didn't think to wipe the colour off the brush though!
